I’m from Michigan I saw a baby bison on a farm when I was riding the school bus when I was in high school and it was such an amazing thing to see.

Just know that the pioneers in the 1800 killed all the Buffalo to gain the rights to remove the Indians

Fantastic documentary on the buffalo. Such a shame what happened right after the Civil War.

I am grateful to the indigenous people of the Americas who model for us the proper care and veneration for all of creation - Attended buffalo roundup in SD for many years

I would love to see bison roam free in public lands all over Colorado one day! I can imagine a large new area in southeastern Colorado full of bison.

Did the guy at 6:00 forget that Europe has bison as well? They look a little different but Europe has its own subspecies of bison.

Interesting, I didn’t know that there are buffalo in Europe.

I agree that all tribes should have had the sovereign abilities to allow for bison/Buffalo grazing on their tribal lands. That should have and may have been the case all along. Curious to see how their numbers increase or dwindle over time knowing that they cannot roam from Mexico to Canada anymore

I wish the Bison- Buffalo could be released to live wherever they wanted like deer and Elk. And people were free to wander on their pre Spanish ponies through the seasons and build wickiups and teepees where ever they want - without any government intrusion and national park fees. ❤😢❤

Thankfully, some people cared enough that the American Buffalo didn’t go extinct.

Next time it would be nice to have interviewees sure of what they are saying. As a 6/th grade teacher she sounds like she’s reciting back exam questions.

As a Caucasian person, I love the Native Americans and the buffalo. There is no excuse for the treatment they have received from the so-called "civilized" white man.

Such an incredibly sad story. Cows in open grazing lands should be replaced by bison where possible.

No, several individuals and tribes began breeding bison. They found forgotten herds in Yellowstone National Park and used those as breeding stock. They did buy some from CAnada, but most came from the US.
