Remove the spark plug first. This alleviates the compression in the cylinder.

Will it hurt if I take them out after removing the oil pan at the bottom
@dv-mitchellmcever81582 ай бұрын
@ no. Compression is above the piston. The crankcase builds its own pressure, which is relieved by the crank case PCV

Informative for sure. Though, I say this nicely, it does matter which way the cap goes. Torque matters and bearing clearance matters. If the clearance is off, oil pressure will take a shit. Most engines have notches or lettering on them there to line up the cap that has the matching letter/notch. Other than that, as long as the vehicle runs, send it. lol

Way over simplified. You need to use 800-1000 wet and dry sand paper to smooth the crank Journals after removing bad bearings. There shold be NO grittyness moving the new bearing on the crank journal but super smooth. Then you need to use a Plastic guage to measure ths space is proper between the bearing and the crank journal. Since this video did nt show the truck running after the job, I assume his job did NOT work.

I have a stupid question , how I would prevent the rod bearings from oil starvation in the first start ?

Regular oil changes, always filling to the correct amount, using the right oil weight, avoiding oil pump failures and leaks
@EARTHKEENING4 ай бұрын
@CodexEvans oh no I meant after installing new bearing then first start .
@XmendingfallsX4 ай бұрын
Assembly lube or lots of oil. They prefer assembly lube though, it’s to help make sure the parts between are well oiled so there is no friction in the start up process and you get time to get your oil flowing through all the channels. This guy’s video is alright for dummy’s if it works but this doesn’t appear to be a proper way to do this, he’s not using oil or lube and is dry fitting and questions if it matters which way the rod caps go and it does matter. It probably won’t affect anything but it’s important to keep them on the right rod and the right orientation. I’ve switched them up on a sh!t head (no pun intended) before and you’ll get tightness and looseness because the surface is machined to that bearing cap by factory.

recommendation: gloves. ive heard that paper is better than cloth ......fibers can carbonize and mess things up. removing the spark plug would make this easier also.

A spun bearing is a clacking higher pitched knock. Take one spark plug out at a time and when the piston is in the down position.. push on it with a clean wooden dowel or something that won’t scratch.. if it pops down once.. then you spin the bearing.. there should be no play.
