Rod Holders for Jon Boat Set up-- Best types and Installation

Many different types of rod holders for Jon Boats on the market. I've used many different models and like the Cabela's heavy duty rod holders with the swivel ring to ensure the pole cannot escape the rod holder. I also prefer the rod holders that bolt to my jon boat than clamp on as they are much more stable.

GREAT VIDEO!!!! Answered all of my questions. I bought the same cheap metal clamp ones and i agree. Even after trying to modify them, they weren't sturdy and the angle is off. Thanks for the video.

I made the dumb mistake of trolling with them and lost a very nice St.Croix rod and Pflueger reel. Last time I use those rod holders, and definitely the last time I troll with a nice combo.

Thank you. Eight years later and I just say your video. I'm looking for something similar for my boat. The former owner mounted wood and some PVC piping. I want to change all of that so it's a better quality

All great options. I have gone to rod holders made by a company called Monster Rod Holders. They are a little pricey but its one of those lifetime products.

The cheap one from Amazon works great , if you now how to install them correct you wont have no issue plus they are made from metal so they wont get brittle in the sun like the cabella ones, also they do swivel.

In my opinion monster rod holders are the best out there! Getcha some and see if they make a difference :)

The gunnel from the boat is interfering with with those bass pro ones . Should have put a little 2x2 spacer in there so the mount can sit flush with the side of the boat

using wood blocks will secure them to the boat better on the cheap ones. just my input.

Those rod holders dont lock properly because the gunwale rail is in the way. Im trying to come up with a solution to this without creating ugly shims.

Anyone interested in catfish rod holders for a really cheap price go to Home Depot or Lowe’s and buy 4 inch pvc and look on Pinterest on how to make them they work great for me. It was basically free for me since my dad is a plumber and had left over pipe to use
