My guy.... Rod Stewart is one of the most privileged voices on earth... I remember watching this vid on MTV coming back from work in the middle of the night. Went to the fridge and open a Guiness to enjoy this vid and Phil Collins "Do you Remember" videos. What a way to just chill. Memories from a hard working girl in the 80's 😅😅😅😂

My mom used to work nights when I was a kid and this song would come on the radio as I sat by the window waiting for her to come home at 10. One of the loneliest times of my life but this song certainly was there to keep me company. Thank you, Sir Rod!

I’m 22 y/o from Mexico and I really thank my parents for showing me Rod’s music since I was 7 y/o. My parents were always worried about showing my siblings and I what the good music really feels like and how it fills the soul. My mom particularly is a huge Rod Stewart and Phil Collins fan. She had a stroke 3 years ago and fortunately she is still alive and having her best life. Life truly gave her a second chance. Now that I’m a grown man, learned 4 different languages, still studying b.s Accounting & finance and working full time for one of the most prestigious companies in Washington DC, what I’ll do with my first paycheck and bonus will be taking my parents to Las Vegas to see Sir Rod Stewart perform on live stage and thank them and life for everything they’ve done for me. If not for my parents I wouldn’t a) discover Rod Stewart’s great music and b) have the chance to attend to the best schools, get a good education and have a job that allows me to take my parents to watch Sir Rod the day of my birthday with me!! Life’s a gift, live it intensely until the last day, just like this 77yo rockstar :)

@@jakeaustin2379 thanks for sharing. Too bad he was sick but at least he was able to perform. I would’ve loved to have seen him in concert. I view his Instagram account from time-to-time. He’s a character. Journey/Bryan Adam’s was my very first concert. They were fantastic. I I think my second concert…I was about 19-20 I guess….around 1984, I saw Van Halen and David Lee Roth was so drunk off his ass that he couldn’t even able to properly perform “Jump• ~ Eddie Van Halen was engaged to Valerie Bettinelli and brought her out on a stage…she was so shy.; however, we didn’t get our money’s worth for that concert but it wasn’t the rest of the band’s fault. It’s still a great memory. I was really sorry when Eddie passed away. It was like a reality check b/c I’m now 57 years old LOL but wouldn’t trade all my fun times and great memories.

Wonderful masterpiece from late 1989. My grandmother was a big fan of Rod Stewart since the 1960s, and she used to blast this song in her 1992 Buick station wagon taking the kids to family reunions. She lost her battle with lung cancer in 2017, and downtown train sill brings me tears remembering the worry-free times we had in the 1990s and early 2000s.

I can't get enough of this one .. His mid-to-late 80's music is beautiful and timeless.. more and better instrumentation helped grow him as an artist and convey the inner emotion of his singing... ..a high school classmate was at a concert in Texas last year and was posting video clips of it on his Facebook page...he was in the upper right seating area..

IT was a wonderful time, a wonderful decade, the first half of the nineties as well, really. Wonderful people, wonderful living, the expansiveness of all of us traveling and finding soulmates around the world, the hope, the music, good food, it was the best time. Now we have spun off into a vacant galaxy of nothing. But thank Creator for internet, for cds, casettes, memories. I bought Rod's auto biography for my birthday, so that I would always be able to "hear his voice" no mater what happens in the world. * in those days you COULD take a downtown train. I took downtown trains in Montreal in the late 90s at night, thoughtnothing of it, pretty darn safe, and wonderful .

Once upon a time, in a bustling city filled with music and magic, there lived a young musician named Rod Stewart. Rod had a passion for music that bubbled up from his soul, and he spent his days strumming his guitar and singing songs about love, adventure, and the wonders of the world. One sunny afternoon, as Rod wandered the streets of downtown, he stumbled upon an old, rusty train station. The station was a relic from another era, with vintage train cars and a nostalgic charm that drew Rod in like a magnet. As he approached, he heard the faint whistle of a train in the distance. Excitement surged through Rod's veins as he realized that this was no ordinary train. It was the Downtown Train, a magical locomotive that traveled through time and space, taking passengers on whimsical journeys to fantastical lands. Without hesitation, Rod boarded the train, his heart pounding with anticipation. Inside, he found a colorful array of passengers-a talking parrot with a penchant for pirate tales, a wise old wizard brewing potions in the dining car, and a group of singing mermaids in the pool car. As the train chugged along, Rod's guitar became his ticket to adventure. With each strum and each melody, the train would speed up, slow down, or change direction, whisking them off to new and exciting destinations. They traveled to the Wild West, where Rod had a showdown with a guitar-playing cowboy and won the heart of a fiery saloon singer. They journeyed to a mystical forest, where Rod played enchanting tunes that made the trees dance and the animals sing along. But the most magical moment came when the Downtown Train took them to the Land of Dreams. Here, Rod met a kind-hearted princess who had lost her smile. With his music and charm, Rod helped her rediscover joy and laughter, and in return, she gifted him a magical harmonica that could play any song from the heart. As the sun began to set on their adventure, Rod knew it was time to return home. The Downtown Train made its final stop back at the old station, and Rod stepped off, his heart full of memories and melodies. From that day on, whenever Rod Stewart strummed his guitar and sang about the Downtown Train, people would smile and remember the magical journey they had taken together, fueled by music, love, and a touch of whimsy.

Indonesia. Bangka. This small village in the forest in the early 80's. Nowhere on the map. I was around 11. I was played this Rod Stewart's song (and others too, course) on a tape player by my uncle, Kak Mawi (Uncle Mawi) for the first time. It's been years. And the song lingers in my head: 'Downtown Train'. Now when I want to remember and cherish that moment again, I got this. And I feel like going back in time...

He was the soundtrack to my best years of my life. My mom loved him since 1971 when I discovered him, she was a fan of great soul singers like Otis Redding and Sam Cooke, once I played her Rods versions of their songs she said she liked Rods versions better!!! When he came out with those dreadful Great American Songbook albums, I thought she'd love them, she said 'I like his OLD STUFF better. She developed Alzheimers and only wanted to listen to Rod. She died at 92, listening to Rod till she took her last breath. Great LADY, great taste in music! Bless her!
