I lost my best friend 2 months ago. We had a platonic friendship. During the last few months he was unwell and was under going dialysis for his kidneys. His illness had turned him into a recluse, retreating into a shell. I'd speak to him often and especially on tough days, he'd make things sound much more easier and all difficulties would go away with his wise advice. The week before he passed, the strangest thing happened. That entire week we spoke. Strangely even did a video call. The next morning he was gone. His sister called to inform me about it. In that moment I could not process the information and just hung up. Grief as it seems is weird. And then the emotions swelled in. Today I heard this song after many many years, reminded of my friendship with him. These lyrics...bang on on my emotions. Every single word makes so much sense. I was unable to go to his funeral as we lived in different cities, but I still haven't found the strength to go over and see his family as I dont have the courage to enter his house knowing that his silly face won't be grinning wide looking at my face. I don't want to talk about it, how you broke my heart when you left without saying goodbye.
