Maggie May was Rod Stewart's first big hit as a solo performer. The song went to #1 in the UK Singles Chart in October 1971, and at the same time topped the charts in Australia, Canada, and the US.

Me too. I like most of his songs, almost all, and it was so nice the 80's ( I know he started in 70's) but the 80's are the top still are...and this singer knew how to go older very well, he really is one rare that looks super, for his age and no plastics, or not exagerated which seems to be a problem, for others. They do so many and start at such younger age, that when they reach 50 the face looks horrible instead of nice.

When I was pregnant with my daughter, this song always came up on the drive to work, and she would kick kick kick in the womb. When she was born, knowing then we had an hour, maybe two before she would die, we played this song to her. It’s Sophie’s song. She died of a complex heart condition in September 2020 and the line “you stole my heart and that’s what really hurts” really connects us to the song. I cry whenever this is played.

"Maggie May" is more than just another song; it holds a sentimental place in my heart. The nostalgic opening guitar riff, coupled with Rod Stewart's soulful vocals, transports me back to the carefree days of my youth. The lyrics perfectly capture the unrequited love and coming-of-age experiences that many of us can relate to. This song showcases Rod Stewart's undeniable talent. The combination of his raspy yet melodic voice, the energetic guitar solos, and the infectious rhythm creates an unforgettable listening experience. The folk-inspired melodies seamlessly blend with rock elements, making "Maggie May" a true masterpiece of musical craftsmanship.

Clive Goldhagen I Blame Partridge Family Music turning me into a Rock N Roll freak. My sister was a crazed teenager obsessed with those Long Hair Rock Stars. I did feel bad for her she was born with that IRISH Red Hair. Parents were nuts giving birth to 10 IRISH kids. Us IRISH are Different born with Red Hair & Freckels & sucks most people think all IRISH are DRUNKS. It was cool to see Rolling Stones Led Zeppelin Aerosmith Alice Cooper Doobie Brothers, I even got to see David Cassidy in concert. Not gonna Lie some of 10 kids got crazy with the ALOCHOL. AN IRISH GIRL IS BEST DRINKING BUDDY A GUY COULD ASK FOR. YOU DONT SCARE ME I WAS RAISED BY AN IRISH MOTHER. EVERYBODY LOVES AN IRISH GIRL. KISS ME IM IRISH NO REALLY IM IRISH. Terry Ross Same thing happened to me I told my girlfriend I was born in a big IRISH Family, she then said so you live with a bunch of Drunks. She was partly right most people think all IRISH are DRUNKS. I think IRISH are Special born with Red Hair & Freckels. Its True REDHEADS get made fun of. Grade school the girls said my Freckels were cute on my face. Not gonna lie some of my siblings liked there Alcohol. This is funny 1 Brother thought he be in more trouble in Court cause of his IRISH name. We were 70s kids Brady Bunch, Partridge Family Leave it to Beaver. When I was a little girl visiting my grandparents, my grandpa would almost always play a Rod Stewart CD in his vehicle. This was a favorite song of mine, as well as Hot Legs (which I probably shouldn’t have been listening to as a child). My grandpa died of a heart attack when I was 12, but every time I hear a Rod Stewart tune, I think of him and all the good times we had.
