Rod trained him, he's his God father. I've seen a few videos about their connection.

@@ASimpleHeroinUserno, he didn't. Rod even says this on the all the smoke podcast. Kyrie got his finishing from his dad, who grew up with Rod. Makes sense that his dad was also super skilled... and people who have seen Kyrie's Dad play (e.g., my dad) can vouch for this

His father trained him. Drederick. He was a baller too and a very good student academically. Rod was still in the league when Kyrie was coming up. But Kyrie's Dad is an interesting story. He was a Bond Trader on Wall St at one point. Could have died during 9/11

From Michell Projects, to Truman High, to De Paul to the League. Nobody wanted any part of Rodney Strickland in his prime. Hands down the most underrated Point Guard ever to play in the League! Kyrie is just as dynamic with a better Jumper!! Peace and love!

@@jaleelmuhammad2222 @Jaleel Muhammad Yeah, he’s from my building in the Bronx (Mitchels Houses). His parents was still living in the same building I was in when he was in his 3rd season in the NBA. I use to see him all the time as a child but when he was drafted by the Knicks and came back to the neighborhood is when he stood out to me, which also got me into basketball. Throughout the 90s he always came around and hung out with old friends in front of the Michels Gym building drinking brewing.😅 Did you know Rod Strickland's moves inspired the Washington Bullets at the time to change their logo and name to the Wizards?...if you look at the Wizards logo from the time it was changed in 1997 to 2015, Rod Strickland is the Wizards logo...not too many people know about that. Also, HOF referee Hugh Evans is from Mitchels Houses in the BX...he worked at Mitchels Gym.🏀

@@ARMAGEDDON240BX , Rodney Strickland was a treasure to watch. He was my favorite from the time he came to Chicago for college at De Paul. I would bump into him on the L train occasionally. I've driven past the Mitchell Houses last year year just to see where my man came from. Hugh Hollins screwed my Bulls over in 1994 playoffs against the Knicks with a B.S. call on Pippen. Now it all makes sense!! You stay strong 💪 my brother!! Peace and love!

Rod said it. He said Dedric was a finisher just like him. He also said Dedric Irving was more of a scorer like Kyrie. Rod said they were similar finishers at the rim. I was Always a fan if Strickland since I was 12.

What’s amazing about Strick, he’d drive the paint and go in amongst all the trees and you never knew how that shot was coming out , you’d swear it’s getting blocked but like some kind of wizardry he would always make it. Legendary

Someone please explain to me why Kyrie's considered by some to be the most "skilled" baller ever? From the look of things, the only thing he seems to have over his mentor Rod is range on his jumper, and as skilled as Rod was, I never really heard anyone call him among even the most skilled of his peers.
