I don’t like to believe in conspiracy theories, but the fact that Jerry Rice AND Rod Woodson both have alluded to Callahan not by his name and by his position seems just very fishy, Callahan definitely played a part in sabotaging the raiders that game and it was a shame

I wish this was talked about more. Many people speculate that Bill Callahan purposely threw the game, either so that Jon Gruden would get the win, or some other reason. But something smells and looks like smoke, even after all these years.

You don’t go pass heavy against the Tampa 2 defense. Not saying Raiders would have won, but changing the gameplan the night before the big game, and to something stupid, is pretty bad.

It's laughable that fool Rich Eisen tries to implicate Al Davis in this. Anyway, what we have to get clarity on is when did the gameplan changed, was it saturday night or friday morning? Because Barret Robbins went AWOL on friday night and it only makes sense for that to happen after the gameplan shifted... (By Tim Brown's account he was begging Callahan not to do that because he didn't have time to prepare for it, and eventually that was what triggered the mental state crisis for him at that point).

I dont think its that at all. But.. i do think that they should have made it opposite day. Gruden knew every single play and call. They changed nothing. They had meetings that said if you hear this, this is the play. So, couple that great defense with them knowing exactly the call and what the call would be changed to and what do you expect. I dont know what they were thinking as far as like why couldnt whatever call that says run up the middle really be play action. do that a few times and you'd have them questioning everything.

You run the ball to keep time of possesion in your favor, shorten the game, prevent turnovers and wear down the defense. The Raiders OL was much larger than Bucs DL. Even Fat Sapp was somewhat undersized and known as an elite pass rusher.
