Roddy Frame is the real deal. Absolutely amazing then and now. I could listen to him forever...

you will if you know Yesu/Jesus. Seems like he does after 'listening' to Alfred's testimony. Listen to 40 days of Rain & u will know what I mean.

if anyone ever proved that true talent is never duly recognized, it's Roddy Frame. though there are many many people out there who have heard and do appreciate his music, it's nowhere near the level of recognition he deserves. and i don't say that to diminish him in any way. i'm just happy to be able to include myself in the group of people who do respect and appreciate his immense talent.

Life is strange. I wasn't a massive Aztec Camera fan although I did like the "Love" album. But after that I kind of forgot about him. I do remember him performing on TV with Neil Finn and Graham Gould - and thankfully this is on KZbin. He's extraordinary. But I forgot him again after that as well. Then about 4-5 months ago I started listening to his back catalogue and I was blown away. He's criminally underrated.

I was lucky to be kind of accidentally turned on to him at a punk/alternative club in my hometown after the DJ played "Oblivious." Who is THAT?! I exclaimed, and it was Aztec Camera. I still have three albums, Highland Hard Rain, Knife and Love. It was hard to really keep up with him in America, but I still feel blessed. I don't know if he is necessarily "underrated" per se, it is just he is not all that well known, and more's the pity. He is brilliant and his songs are uplifting almost spiritual. I wish I could have ever seen him in concert.

Very true. He captures a unique magic in his best songs, and it's a very Central Scotland kind of magic inflected through genre. There's only a few of them, and most of the greats seem to go under-recognised relative to their talent, for whatever reason

That Safe in Sorrow acosutic version is incredible! I find it so hard to believe its not as popular as Walk Out to Winter or Oblivious

Great, thanks for posting. I'll never understand why Roddy appears so low profile in the music business, when he should have headlined every major music festival going! Been a fan since Aztec Camera, and as long as he's making music, I'll be listening to, enjoying, and admiring it.
