I have the Rode Wireless Go mic, and I always wear it on the collar of my t-shirt. The downside, if I'm walking around you can really hear me breathing. The upside; I do a lot of outdoor talking to the camera. This mic pics up cars on the road, the wind, the birds, but when I speak, you can hear me loud and clear. I've gotten a lot of compliments on this mic from my peers.

I’m always impressed with how much bottom end the pro+ has even at farther distances. It seems to have a good proximity effect without getting super close.

The Rode Wireless Go normally used with a lav mic plugged into it. The internal mic’s really for emergency or quick use, you wouldn’t expect to get great audio from it. But you can also plug other mics not just lavs into the Wireless Go eg. try plugging an NTG4+ into it for good quality remote wireless sound.

I would highly suggest the videomic pro+ or if you do have the extra budget, the NTG5 or video mic NTG if u dont want to deal with using a zoom for audio.

Great video, I love unboxing/review content! I think all the mics sounded pretty good and definitely have their advantages in different situations. I recently picked up a Rode Video Micro for my videos.

Great review Teppo! I have the VideoMicro and VideoMic Me-L which both have great audio. Both the NTG and Wireless Go are on my wish list but have always felt that the GO should be paired with the RØDE Lavalier. I am very curious to see if there is a difference in the quality of the audio with a lav. Great review and thanks to RØDE for sending these to you to try.

I’m thinking about buying the Rode NTG 4 as it’s cheaper, like that it sounds so crisp and a great studio mic for those sit down vids. I currently use the Deity D4 Duo as my all round microphone as it’s at a budget cost and sounds great for the price!

Sounds great! There’s a high pitch ring. Cut out all the highs above where your voice sits and it’ll fix that.

The Tascam CA-XLR2d finally got in stock so I just ordered it for my R7 to try out direct connection to the R7 hotshoe, which works with R3 as well. I sold my NTG1 like 5yrs ago for the rode video mic pro plus and now I think I may sell it for the NTG5. What are your thoughts about it 1 plus yrs later of use? Thanks and keep up the good work.

Here it's the first time since years that we have so much snow :D It was a hell of a chaos last week when the snow was falling. in a few cities we had 98cm of fresh snow in 24 hours. I'm filming with the videomic pr + as well and i'm pretty happy with it. NTG5 seems to be a good choice for a little bit more professional style videos which i don't do yet =) Great video, thanks for the comparsion.

I’m curious how the NTG5 would sound if it was hooked up to the Wireless Go transmitter. been looking for an example of it on KZbin and haven’t found one yet :) Trying to see if there a “noticeable” sound quality difference if you send the NTG5 signal through the wireless go, would make for an awesome and cost effective wireless boom pole set up. Probably would need a 48v phantom power supplied to the NTG5 because I’m not sure if the Wireless Go supplies any if you go straight from XLR to 3.5mm

In isolated situation, just you in the room, this is how i assessed it from Top to Worst 1. Rode NTG5 2. Wireless Pro 3. VideoMic Pro+ 4. Canon Mic Bult-in If we're talking about moving back and forth, around and further away from the subject/object, this is how I would assess it from Top to Worst 1. Wireless Pro 2. Rode NTG5 3. VideoMic Pro+ 4. Canon Mic Built-in If we're talking about events about moving that we can identify the direction of the sound it is coming from 1. Rode NTG5 2. VideoMic Pro+ 3. Wireless Pro 4. Canon Mic Bult-in If we're talking about weather conditions with a deadcat or even extra equipment to make the voice from the subject or object to be heard then 1. Rode NTG5 2. VideoMic Pro+ 3. Wireless Pro 4. Canon Mic Bult-in To me, the use-cases are quite different and same for praticality. I mean, if I can carry Rode NTG5 everywhere and try to make retrieve the best sound from it, I would but the amount of overhead or handheld gear to possibly buy as well as to hold and vlog is as practical if it is a one-man team without additional surface support or people around. Hope to see Rode do improve their quality in more towards VideoMic Pro+ and Wireless Pro where even the most action-packed vloggers are actively moving around or engaged in active sports. Having such a high quality in a small object is definitely a dream we all desire, not to mention affordability. Overall, very good analysis and review.

the videomic pro+ was placed too far way. For in room setup, mounting on camera hot shoe is convenient but won't give you the best result.

I've got the rode wireless go and it sounds great. Perhaps because it was so close to you? Or perhaps you didn't alter the gain levels? Can also plug a lav into it which helps.
