It sounded pretty good didn't it? I did an interview the other day and it performed great. The only thing I noticed is that it picks up a bit more of the surroundings, so I have a bit of the voice of the other person being interviewed on it also, but it's easily edited if you record separate channels. Thanks a lot dear!!

Intelligent and professional, thank you. These little mics make me nervous as a media pro but samples like this convince me that these technologies have really cut across the old ways of doing stuff. Range for size is simply amazing. Samples from cheap and expensive lav mics was surprising. Like 'pro' optics, a lifetime (40 years) of using a wide range of kit suggests that you have to be doing something pretty specialised before even professionals can tell the difference. I will be buying one of these but as a matter of interest - for people using these across a few days - you might include charge and download times for users who need to be back on set after breakfast! Also your own opinion of audio quality in real life directly from the Rode Go and when using a lav. Thanks. John M.

Quick question : When I'm using merged mode, should I be using both transmitters for the recording? Lets say its just me anf I want to do a one person voiceover.... Will I use BOTH transmitters AND have merged mode turned on? What about the safety mode... Will I need both transmitters for that too? Or can I use safety with just one transmitter?
@FlyEnri3 жыл бұрын
Hi dear ! You only need one transmitter to be able to record anything you want! In this case, if you're using merged, both channels will have the audio from one transmitter only and that's it. You're good to go. Safety works the same way. As long as you have it activated, it will record internally. Hope it works out well for ya ! Let me know!

Hello, great video, i just bought it today and looks great... My question is, which is the best Db level to outdoor noise recording?? I am starting doing videobloggin and hear some other people that use wireless go ii and dont hear too much noise on a crowded Street... Or does it have post production?? Thank you ver y much and keep gong.. 🔥
@FlyEnri Жыл бұрын
Hi Andrés ! You definitely should do some post production, but ideally you should try to keep the camera levels as low as possible, and then adjust on the Rode. I feel like when the Rode is louder than -12 it begins to introduce too much surrounding noise, so I'd try to keep it lower.

Hi, Thank for the awesome review of Rode Go2. Can you please tell, if the new version i.e. Rode Go 2 has inbuilt ANC, as there is no ANC in the older version of Rode and all kind of background sound/ or voice keeps getting into the audio.
@FlyEnri2 жыл бұрын
Hi dear! I don't think there is any active noise cancelling in the rode 2, but the pick up pattern really makes working in busy environments not a problem at all. Of course there will be noise, but the talent's voice will be always wayyy more predominant. Is it any specific situation you're having trouble with ?

@@FlyEnri Hi buddy, last night it was raining, my Rode Wireless 1 (older version) captured the sound of the drops, if there is any child playing at some distance, it captures that too. Hi there, really great review! Just a question: when I run interviews, on my camera I have small shotgun plugged in, so the Rode Wireless GO II Receiver won't be connected to the camera. How can I monitor the audio/level of the interviewee(s) coming from the two Wireless GO II Transmitters? If I plug my headphones into the Receiver I won't get any audio... Many thanks
@FlyEnri3 жыл бұрын
Hi Alessandro ! Yeah, that plug in the receiver doesn't work for monitoring, you need to plug it into your camera or recorder, and monitor by connecting your headphones to them ! How were you planning to record the audio coming from the Rode ? You're trying to do a shotgun + rode wireless for backup ?

The recoreded sound is mono and as I can see , the level of the sound in the Right chanel is almost zero. What am I doing wrong? I use only one transmitter (mode merged). Thanks

Hi !! It should be recording to both channels the same content if you got merged. To save what you have already done, you can use an effect on Premiere or other softwares to copy the left to right channel ! But regarding the settings on the Rode if you got Merged it should be all good!

Awesome video. I am looking to get either the go 1 or 2. It’s for a solo user. Is the sound quality a big difference or more or less the same? What would you recommend?
@FlyEnri3 жыл бұрын
Thanks dear!! Audio quality felt the same, stability of connection is better on version 2 if you will use it going far from the receiver, otherwise doesn't really matter much. If you're doing videos only with one person talking, and not critical jobs, I'd say the one is good enough and there are some deals. If you got the money though, and you might use a second TX in the future or if the safety channel feature for example is attractive, version II is a better pick and more future proof. Either way you'll be in for more life quality without cables hahaha

So when you plug the receiver into your camera, when you go into editing and drag your film into your editing software is the sound from the microphone already in your video? Or do you have to manually take the audio out from the receiver and drag into your editing if that makes sense.
@FlyEnri2 жыл бұрын
Exactly ! It's the same as if you had no microphone at all or a mic connected directly to camera. The audio together with your video on the SD card will be the one from the wireless go :D Thanks for watching !
@MyApon3 жыл бұрын
Very nice review. This is amazing. May I get your help? I just bought Rode wireless go 2 yesterday. Record one audio in my CANON 5D. I found the audio sounds mono. It seems recorded in one channel. How can I solve this problem and get a stereo sound? Also, how can I set up my wireless go in my MacBook pro? Thanks and regards.
@FlyEnri3 жыл бұрын
Hi Syed ! If you're hearing mono it's probably because in the receiver it's configured as Split. If you change it to Merged it will sound like coming from both sides. To fix what you've recorded already you just gotta duplicate the Right to the Left or the opposite, depends on which editing software you're using. About the setup on the Macbook Pro I don't know exactly since I use Windows here, but in theory you don't need to do anything specific for it to work. Simply connecting the receiver to the microphone input port (is there one?) should be enough :D Thanks for watching !

Nice video, i am using Rode Wireless Go 2. when i am using single transmitter, it gives the audio from right side only, how to get both sides?
@FlyEnri2 жыл бұрын
Hi !! Perfectly normal, on Premiere you gotta use an effect called Copy Left to Right or Right to Left, and it will replicate the channel for you! On Da Vinci if you put the audio track as mono, you'll hear it from both sides also! Always something like this, depending on which editing software you're using :D
@HolyMotorsco3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing. I bought the mics based on your video but when I tested them there’s some much ambient noise. Is there any feature to cancel the ambient noise or i need a lava when I’m on the street?
@FlyEnri3 жыл бұрын
Hi dear !! You don't need one, but you definitely have to keep the mic close to your mouth, so in the upper part of shirt or jacket, and I don't recommend using them on the high gain, medium and low have worked better for me. If you explain me how you've been using it exactly I might be able to find something else that might be going wrong. Overall, even in quite noisy environments it's really good. Of course it doesn't cancel the surrounding noises, but your voice should be clear and much louder than everything else :D

Great review. Sounds really good I have just purchased the Rode II. I use a Huawei P30 Pro and have the SC adapter cable to connect the receiver to the phone. When I record a video, should the audio captured through the Rode II override the on board audio of the Huawei P30 Pro camera? Or do I need to sync the audio with the video in post production? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks so much.

Hi Greig ! It should automatically understand that there is an external microphone and get it from there. On mine it alerts me "External Mic Connected" and from that point on it automatically uses it. You can check by recording some close to the phone with the TX of the Rode in your hands, and then again the same sentence far away, still with the TX on your hands. If they sound exactly the same, it was being recorded on the Rode. If the second sounds much lower, then it is still on the phone mic and something went wrong. Gotta check for your specific model if there's some additional config to do! Tell me later if you managed!

@@FlyEnri Thanks so much for your reply. I have found out that hauwei does not allow external microphones to be used in their on board camera settings. So I downloaded Open Camera and that allows an external audio input. So finally got it working. Thanks again.

Brilliant video buddy, very informative 🙂 I recently brought Rode Wireless II, quick question.. can you let me know the settings to avoid complete background noise especially while vlogging on a bike or at the beach. TIA.. 🙂
@FlyEnri3 жыл бұрын
Hi Alicia !! There won't be a precise config, it all depends on how far you are from the noise and how close the mic is to you. I recommend you to keep it a palm away from your mouth, on the upper part of the shirt, and one thing that I don't like much is to use it in high sensitivity, I usually keep it on Medium. Apart from that it will take a bit of testing to check what will work best. If you get home and you see that the difference between you in silence and you speaking is at least -10dB or more, it will be roughly ok to listen to you. Do some tests and let me know how it goes :))) Good vlogs for you !!

hi there im new to mics and vlogging so may be a silly question but can I leave 1 transmitter at home and just use one? Also will the mic plug straight into an Android? or us there an adapter or different cord needed? Cheers for the review too. new sub here.
@FlyEnri3 жыл бұрын
Hi dear !! There is no such thing as silly questions, I'm sure other people have the same doubts! Yeah, you can use only one TX if you want. Maybe carry them both for safety, but you definitely can power on only one if you want and record with that. It comes with a 3.5mm jack, the typical headphone plug on smartphones, so if your android has one of these ports, yeah, the receiver will connect directly to it, and it should recognize it as an external microphone. If it is a newer model and it has only usb-c, you will need an adapter, but it works also! Thanks for watching and if you have any other doubts just write them here, it helps everyone :)

Hello! Thank you for your tutorial. Is the Rode central software only for the Rode Go 2? Because I have version 1 that I just bought, and can't find the software to get the audio files off of it. This software in your tutorial doesn't recognize my device. thanks
@FlyEnri3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jacqui! The central is only for version 2 really. Your audio is going to be only in the camera, inside the video file! Unfortunately version 1 doesn't have the backup audio recording inside the transmitter. If you're playing the video file and you're not hearing anything then something wrong happened during recording. If you need any help just write here and we can try to give some help :)

Thanks for the video. I'm having heavy interference/white noise when using with my sony a7c. When i record internally/directly to the rode, its very clean. Any ideas?
@FlyEnri Жыл бұрын
Hi ! Hmmmm, it can be because the gain is set to high on the Rode, or if the levels on the camera are way too high. You can check it better by first connecting your headphones to the receiver, and then to the camera. This will isolate if the problem is on camera or already on the receiver. Once you do that you'll also be able to understand if it's a cable issue. Let me know if that works and thanks for watching !!

Thank you for the reply, but Lol I’m such a dummy! 😂. Basically I was playing video files through GOM player and for some reason that player amplifies/distorts volume a lot. That’s why when I was listening to the recording directly from rode app the sound was perfect. When I play those same videos on default windows player the audio is great!

I’m brand new to audio so forgive me, but could you use split mode and get stereo sound from 1 person or subject or would that be useless? Thanks for the great content 💪🏼
@FlyEnri3 жыл бұрын
Hi Edward !! Yeah, you can, but when you use split you're gonna see each audio (from each transmitter) comes from only one side (right and left channels), so mono tracks. You can convert them to stereo by duplicating the channel inside your editing software. So you're gonna have in the end two audio tracks. Each one will have the same information on left and right channels. Thanks for watching and if you have any other doubts don't worry and write them here! Other people might be wondering the same :))))

Hi - you said you were monitoring the audio. I have plugged my headphones into the receiver but the sound is really quiet. Do you know how to turn it up?
@FlyEnri2 жыл бұрын
Hi dear! Not sure it's possible, maybe it's the headphones you're using. Anyways, I'd recommend you to monitor it on the receiver only if you're trying to debug some problem, because otherwise the final audio will still be affected by the amp on the camera, and if there is not well set the final audio won't be ok. :D

Ok "Flying Enri" write me is it compatible with this camera type: Canon Legia HF R706 (7 years in usage).
@FlyEnri3 жыл бұрын
This was an incredibly specific question for which I had to research here, I don't like to leave anything unanswered, hahahaaha So, it seems like by the specs on Canon website that your camera does not have an external microphone input, meaning that 3.5mm jack input, is it correct for your model? If so, there is no way to connect the receiver from Rode, meaning it can't be used. If by any chance your model is different from the one I looked up and it's got, well, there are good chances it will work, but Rode does not have a list of cameras for which it will 100% guaranteed work, so I'd suggest to rent it, try it, and if all goes well, get it :) Thanks for commenting and hope I could help!
