Rodeln: Carving the Snowfields

One of the best snow seasons in too many years finally happened. Stomping (setting by snowshoe) the Rodelbahn has paid off with 24"-30" of compacted snow. The adjacent snow fields were dense and crusted. We could cruise anywhere. Pick any line. The roads were hard and fast. It was time to gather fellow Rodelers and do some low flying in the Big Hole Mts. of Idaho just west of the Grand Tetons and in sight of Yellowstone. All of us rode Torggler Sportrodels. Those sleds can do almost anything it seems.

Very nice! And more to come. If you have the same conditions in Quebec, one of these Torgglers could be your next slide. I was in northern Maine for 3-1/2 yrs. If only I had had one of these to slide the icy crust and boilerplate common to the area. They'll handle anything from soft pack to boilerplate with ease.

Turboganz, I’m in the Laurentians region. We got pummelled with snow here this year. That ride looks like a lot of fun. I wish I had confidence in my long-time bad back, to try it. I watch wild ducks and geese instead. In fact, a couple of years ago, I did a search on the lifespan of a goose, and your video of Scoop got recommended. A very nice story. And that’s why and how I subbed. Take care!
