Hi Everyone and thank you so much for watch the video. For those of you who have asked about Ed Roth , Yes Ed and I were good friends and spent quite a bit of time just sitting together talking in his tiny little shop on the side of the main sign shop at Knott's. I will always treasure those moments. I had a chance to spend the day with him when I was traveling through Utah in his little town of Manti. Again a big thanks to the producer/Director Dereck Choice for such an amazing video.

Thank you, Mahalie! It's been a number of years since we shot this but I am still in awe of Roderick's work. He's the nicest guy you'll ever meet and truly loves the craft. It would be great to meet with him again and do a quick piece on what, if anything, has changed since 2012. For the many talented folks in the genre, I hope the interest, and demand, has strengthened enough to help keep the art alive and growing. :)

Your mirrors are gorgeous, Ive never seen mother of pearl in them.Im trying to learn 2nd side gilding which is new to me from 1st side. Did you or your dad know Ed Roth at Knottsberry?? He worked in the sign shop there also before moving to Utah.

@@rhythmlake1 I did a lot of Signs and Glass art including Acid embossing & Gilding back in the 60s & 70s here in London UK - at least until it all started to die out with the advent of Vinyl during the 70s. I was also into Hot Rods and by the late 60s got to know Dan Woods pretty well because of it. Dan worked for Ed Roth during the mid 60s before he did his tour in Vietnam, he then opened his own shop in Paramount, Cal. I've been friends with Dan ever since and I also got to know Ed Roth and his son Dennis through Dan. I always admired Ed for his sign and striping art but also for his crazy show cars. By the 70s Dan would have his Hot Rod projects striped and lettered by Tom Kelly as, I think, Ed was working at Knotts by then or possibly had moved to Utah (?) Ed also set up shop prior to this (late 50s ?), with Tom Kelly and "Baron" Crozier (who, I believe was Tom Kelly's uncle), under the banner "Crazy Painters". I also got to know Von dutch (Kenneth Howard), somewhat when he had his bus parked at Cars of the Stars on Beach Blvd, he was making custom knives at that time in the workshop fitted out in the back of his bus. Roderick's work is outstanding, takes me back to my glass embossing days, although I still do Signwork. Great to see the art is still thriving.
