They're both so talented, but look at the way Gabriela is working those strings. It's deceptive; it looks a bit like organized flailing, but damn she's precise and pulling some crazy, crazy stuff. A joy to watch!

I saw this on KZbin the day after it was performed. 10 years later, it still kicks ass. And 10 years from now, it still will. And 500 from now, when aliens start studying all the crazy shit we did, they'll rock out too!

On one afternoon at the Hurricane Festival 2008 or 2009 in Northern Germany a friend of mine and I went to the festival ground to see a band we just really wanted to see live. Back then the festival had two big stages. I think they were called blue stage and green stage or whatever. Anyway, after the band had finished up their set, my friend and I were hesitant to walk back to the camping ground and decided to buy beer in the festival area and walk over to the other (possibly the green) stage just for the heck of it. We didn't know who or what was playing there, but we sort of remembered it must have been a duo. Anyway, when we arrived at that stage the duo was already in full gear, so to speak. It took us five seconds at best to become awe-struck. It was "just" two people and their acoustic guitars, presumably not enough people to fill the stage that could have hosted the Dropkick Murphys times five and still wouldn't have looked crowded. But not only did the duo command the stage and fill it and every inch of the ground from which you could hear them with a certain spirit, the whole crowd was captivated by the music, the technical skills and the perceived calmness with which the duo was performing. My friend and I walked back to the camping ground afterwards and told everyone of our friends that they had problably just missed the best concert of the whole festival for that year. Obviously that duo was Rodrigo y Gabriela. 🤘 And you know the funny part about this story that I used way too many words for? I can't, for the love of fuck, remember which band my friend and I had actually gone to the stages for in the first place ... memory is a funny thing sometimes.😂👍

Absolutely phenomenal. I bet you both of them could pick up a red hot potato right from the oven without flinching. The callouses on their fingers must be an inch thick. Almost superhuman skill is required to play that way. Beautiful.
