I played this song for my 3 boys back in the early 2000's. They thought it was corny because it wasn't rap music. I'm black and used to be hood and "affiliated " but i strive to be a better man EVERYDAY. I hope one day my boys will listen to the words and understand where i was coming from when i had them listen to the words.

Bob Dylan wrote more than a masterpiece here. It is nothing less than spiritual. I loved it when Rod Stewart brilliantly recorded it. It never left my mind. Seven years later I had my first child, three years after that my second. Throughout their entire lives I have never been able to get the song out of my head. When I was blessed with my grandchildren, the song only intensified . Finally I figured out that Bob Dylan was sending us a message regarding mortality. My very deepest sympathy to all of you who have lost loved one’s. My heart breaks for you. God be with you.

My heart goes out to you. I feel you, and I can understand you miss her so well. The only comfort I can give is to say that the missing stays, but in time you are going to cherish the warm memories you made together. They will comfort you and help you get back on track, by taking baby steps and living one day at the time. Two years ago I lost the love of my life, after being together for over 40 years. I was totally devastated, felt so cold and empty. Never expected to be a widow at 64. Now, 2 years further on the track, I can say life had its way of healing. Music and memories were my greatest comfort, next to my children ofcourse, and my grandchildren. I hope you have some great people around you to comfort you. Dear Dan, I hope that you have some good people around you and I wish you all that is good in this world.

I played this song at my wife’s funeral. She passed away in March 2012 at 45 from cancer. She loved Rod Stewart and we saw him live in concert about a year before she died. It would be our last “date” ever. She was in a great deal of pain and had a feeding tube but I could tell that she really enjoyed Rod’s (and Stevie Nick’s) performance. I love you Lorraine and miss you more every single day. Your legacy lives on in the four wonderful children you brought into this world. You will truly be forever young in my heart.

May the good Lord be with you Down every road you roam And may sunshine and happiness Surround you when you're far from home And may you grow to be proud Dignified and true And do unto others As you'd have done to you Be courageous and be brave And in my heart, you'll always stay Forever young, forever young Forever young, forever young May good fortune be with you May your guiding light be strong Build a stairway to Heaven With a prince or a vagabond And may you never love in vain And in my heart you will remain Forever young, forever young Forever young, forever young Forever young, forever young Yeah And when you finally fly away I'll be hoping that I served you well For all the wisdom of a lifetime No one can ever tell But whatever road you choose I'm right behind you, win or lose Forever young, forever young Forever young, forever young Forever young, forever young For-Forever young, forever young

My big brother died in 1990 in car wreck shortly after turning 16. I was just 13. He was a really popular kid for all the right reasons. Everybody just liked him. When I was a kid my father was a harsh drug addict which is hard to grow up being around when your 1 to 9 years old but having Wonderful singers like rod stewart and songs like forever young made it go by alot easier and less hard to think about when it was happening

@Redwood Rebelgirl it's still hurts..a lot. Every month on the 19 at 1:10 pm I thank her for giving me life..now she's gone. I cant help but look at the clock on these days and remember her and cry. I've set up a ofrenda in my house so she can be with her brothers and father. October I light candles and set out fresh marigolds so they can visit. It's a Mexican holiday..Dia de los muertos. Since she passed away at our house in Ensenada I have brought this to my home. I see her everyday and I smile. I try my hardest to live up to what she asked of me. "Be kind and loving. Dont cry for me but celebrate me." So I do the best I can. Thank you for listening and your thoughts. With much love Leroy.

"Forever Young" May the good Lord be with you Down every road you roam And may sunshine and happiness Surround you when you're far from home And may you grow to be proud Dignified and true And do unto others As you'd have done to you Be courageous and be brave And in my heart, you'll always stay Forever young, forever young Forever young, forever young May good fortune be with you May your guiding light be strong Build a stairway to Heaven With a prince or a vagabond And may you never love in vain And in my heart you will remain Forever young, forever young Forever young, forever young Forever young, forever young Yeah And when you finally fly away I'll be hoping that I served you well For all the wisdom of a lifetime No one can ever tell But whatever road you choose I'm right behind you, win or lose Forever young, forever young Forever young, forever young Forever young, forever young For-Forever young, forever young

My dad died 18 years ago at 37 when I was 3 years old,I don’t remember him at all. His favorite singer was Rod and, thanks to him,my mom became a fan too so I grew up with Rod’s music. This song is beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time because I think about the moments I couldn’t share with him and although my mom gave me everything there’s a “hole” that nobody can replace or complete. It’s been a while since cancer took his life but as I get older,it hurts more.

Oh my gosh...these comments. They’re all filled with so much love n a haunting sadness...so heartfelt. It’s the kind of sadness that you can only feel bc you loved the person so much. I hope that whoever reads this is having a nice day and if you’re sad, that you will have a better day ❤️ This song was a hit when I was in the 6th grade..I’m now 45 and for some reason, I was yearning to hear the words ...they mean so much more now than how it made you feel, during your days of youth. I realize more than ever how life goes by so quickly n that our children grow up even quicker, n that sadly, our parents are getting “old”... Much love and healing to everyone who’s here bc they’re missing someone they loved ❤️

I will always dedicate this song to my beloved grandfather. The one who always did everything he could to make sure I was happy when he was alive. He would always play rod stewart and it got to the point where I could only fall asleep if I was listening to Rod Stewart. Otherwise I couldn’t sleep. Unfortunately in 2008 he had a severe stroke, and he was never the same after that. He couldn’t walk properly, couldn’t drive, etc. In February of 2018, I lost him due to his dementia and Alzheimer’s. He was 70 years old. To this day I still listen to Rod stewart to sleep when I have rough days because it reminds me of my grandfather and it helps my pain go away🕊

I played this song for my children, when they graduated high school. I also chose it for the mother and son dance, at my son’s wedding. I now would dedicate this one to my dearest Kimberly Dawn Castro. You weren’t my daughter, but I loved you as my own. And each time I hear it, I will remember you. And my own as they grow and learn, and walk through their own life. I thank God for having known you. You are missed. You are loved. And will always be For Ever Young. You fly high as you want to now. Fly sweet Kim, fly with the angels, and all of Gods Heavenly Host. You are free at last. With much love. April
