Roehrenradio restaurieren Braun TS 3 (frühe mono version) Teil 1

Renovierung eines frühen TS 3 (nicht TG 3 wie im Vorspann). Dies ist die mono Version mit Gegentakt Endstufe. In diesem ersten Teil wird der Empfänger erstmal grundgereinigt und zum laufen gebracht. Sehr geteert, der Marlboro Man lässt grüssen :-)

Dave has sent me some excellent instructions on how to add on the subtitling in English, which I will add to all my german videos soon. In this video I check out and do a preliminary cleanup of this Braun TS3 receiver, Marlboro Man special with lots of condensate/nicotine especially on the outside. It cleans up fairly easily, so I do a dim-bulb start up and function check. The coupling capacitor between the phase splitter valve and the upper EL95 in the push-pull output stage needs replacement right away as positive voltage is measured on the grid of the EL95. Voltage between grid of the output valve and chassis must always be zero or negative, otherwise the valve will conduct heavily and possibly red-plate, furthermore damage the output transformer or the power supply. I then attend to the frozen volume control, alternately heat it and oil it with WD-40 move it back and forth till it turns freely. The bad reception on FM and the fact that I often have to first tap the ECH81 oscillator-mixer (converter) shows this vave has an internal fault. I replace it with a ECH83, these are factory specially selected ECH81 reserved for car radio use where low anode voltages require best emission and were thus stamped as ECH83. (They are better and are cheaper too) :-) The message in the video is to first get a newly acquired radio to work before doing a recap and restauration, this may save a lot of headaches later on In the next video I will remove the chassis and do a proper restoration, I will have to have another look at the output valves while on this, something is not right there. the magic eye will also need attention. HEY BLITZ as an avid fan and viewer of David's I'd like to thank you for not only taking the time and effort to source the parts he needed to finish that project but also for the Romanian radio .Initially when I heard Romanian I was totally underwhelmed as my memories were of Caucescau and the mess the country was at the end of his tenure BUT WOW what a sweet little radio and I'm keen to see what David will do with it .I have subscribed as I hope will others from David's channel ....

Interessante und informative Videos. Mein Abo hast du. Ich schau mir die Clips mit etwas Wehmut an, habe selber noch auf Röhre gelernt, einen Beruf, den es heute im Zeitalter der Wegwerfgesellschaft nicht mehr gibt. Und übrigens, WD40 ist kein Schmiermittel, sondern ein Entfetter, nimm lieber Ballistol, oder ein anderes Kriechöl. Mach weiter so, ich freue mich schon auf den nächsten Teil. Grüße aus Solingen.

Also der Einsatz von WD40 zum Anlösen des verharzten alten Schmiermittels im Schaft des Lautstärke Potis ist schon mal gut, vor allem im Zusammenspiel mit Hitze. Dass man schlussendlich noch mit einem Kriechöl die langzeitschmierung sicherstellen kann steht außer Frage. Hauptsache das WD40 landet nicht als Kontaktspray auf den Wellenschaltern.

Hab auch so n tolles Teil da und auch schon schön gemacht. Innen war schon mal jemand dran und auch wilde Konstrukte mit Heizwiderständen hinterlassen... hab da keinen Plan. Das Radio brummt auch merklich und eine Seite ist recht leise. Auch kratzt es im Betrieb sporadisch arg... Ansonsten ist Mechanik und Funktion recht gut. Kannst su sowas mal anschauen und was kostet das ca.? Ich fänds schade, wenn es sich in Dampf auflösen würde!

Hachja, das gute ausblasen und was mitunter bei diesen Kisten rauskommt! Da kann ich auch ein Lied von singen :D In deinem Fall sah es anschließend ja fast schon aus wie neu im Video. Von Braun hatte ich auch noch kein Gerät aufm Tisch gehabt. Überwiegend Telefunken, Blaupunkt und Loewe-Opta. Letztere haben mitunter ein recht schönen, goldfarbenen Innenaufbau. Auch wenn mans natürlich nicht wirklich sieht. Das sind aber auch die drei Firmen die bei mir bisher recht modular aufgebaut waren. Ich habe es lieber mit ein paar Stecker, statt alles zu verlöten. Abo habe ich auch mal durchgeführt. Im dt. Sprachraum gibts erstaunlich wenig finde ich.

Hallo, bin auch dabei ein Braun TS 3-81 TS3 Stereo Ch= RC81 C funktionstüchtig zu machen, allerdings bin ich Anfägner, und hab diese Frage: unten am Chassis, ist ein Kabel mit angelöteter Messingöse, sieht man auch bei dir, gehört der irgendwo angeschraubt oder bleibt der lose liegen? mfG, Luc
