Yeah, base Balatro has so much cool stuff that really kinda falls under the weight of optimal picks, and even some of the interesting kinda good Jokers get overshadowed by great boring picks. The only times I don’t feel like I’m falling asleep with my own gameplay is Ride the Bus outside of Abandoned Deck and any time I take Vagabond, and that’s all because they require my full attention. The only difference between me playing Balatro Mobile and Jen’s Almanac is that I’m winning more often. So with that said, I’m so happy that somebody sat down and let the suboptimal cool stuff cool for once

Roffle I know you have all these jokers memorized and are quickly laying out your plans at lightning speed but even a half a second of hovering over the jokers would help people that don’t have every cards’ effects memorized be able to follow along with you as you build your runs Sincerely, someone watching on a TV that can’t easily step frame by frame to catch the flash of a tooltip.

Man I've been playing alot recently and no matter how good of a build I get i can't get passed ante 12. The jump is too insane probably going to stop going for endless runs

Don't give up! Ante 12 is the great limiter, it takes a while to beat it. The best way to get a crazy high score run is flush five/ five of a kind face card builds with photograph, hanging Chad, sock and buskin, and have the cards all be glass with red seals. Another way is using baron + mime and playing a high card with the rest of your hand being red seal steel kings. You got this!

I’m kind of new to this game - one comment from a few of your videos is that you don’t hover over things much at all, but you do in this video so I enjoyed it more. It can be hard to follow for people new to this, but if that’s not the intended audience I get it

Agreed, I don’t have all the jokers memorized, especially ones I haven’t unlocked in my game yet or the modded ones. Thankfully the tooltips are very fast but pausing the video at the right time as Roffle absolutely flies through swapping jokers can be painstaking with lots of rewinding. There’s no frame step option on TV versions of the KZbin app. I can only imagine how difficult it is for people watching on a live stream.

I think the more important synergy is Wild Cards and Ancient Joker; Idol can work but it mainly rewards having all of the same card. Ancient always picks suit fully randomly instead of based on your deck, so all Wild Cards means Ancient always fires.

I cleared Gold Stake with Black Deck today. Picked up an eternal Madness and copied it eventually, leading to a pretty easy game. Granted, it took like 30-ish tries to get that game, but I am still very happy with clearing it. Gonna try to finish all the challenges next

I just realized that Midas Mask into Werewolf has the potential to change the hand that you played after you click play... Like, turning a full house into a flush house. Is that something Vanilla Balatro is coded to handle? Or this mod?

I'm pretty sure it doesn't change the hand. Looking at 16:55 it seems like the hand stays as a full house even though it should become a flush house after the transformation

Prideful is better than Clown Car because Clown Car only gives +44 mult the first time the first card is played. That's bad because that's only a +44 per hand as opposed to a +60, and only the first time a hand's first card is played (so if it's been first before, it can't proc the mult).
