I'll Sit Alone And Think A Lot About You off of his album On The Way (1988)
Lyrics:
Sometimes I sit and think of...
Wonder if goodbye was worth it
I sit alone, and all I do is think of you
You
Sometimes it get's so very boring without you
I like to think of all our memories
I've got a lot about you
And at the time I sit alone
All I do is think of you
All you
I sit alone, and I think a lot
Sometimes when I am looking out my front window
I see the people there
They all breathe the air
The same as you and I do
But yet when I have said goodbyes
There's only one thing I can do
Is think of you
Sometimes I sit and think alone
I have daydreams and memories
Right here with me at home
I sit alone and think a lot about you
You
Long nights last winter you kept me company
I know the coming summer will be long for me
I'll sit alone and think a lot about you
You, you, you will be thinking
I'll sit alone and think a lot about you
I think I'll go down to the ocean
I'll speak there with the gods below
I'll talk of you
I'll sit alone and ask the waves
Just where I might go to find you
I do not own the rights to this music. All rights go to Jandek and Corwood.

I love how the guitar and drums are playing completely off with each other then they (by Jandek standards) get close to syncing but only to fall out again soon after. Then just as it sounds like its coming 'together' he quickly upsets the momentary order and it is all off again. Such a teaser that 'ol Jandek...

I'm like 667. I have dispelled the evil. And also this song is great. I feel like just another meaningless person on a tiny planet that's nothing but a dust particle in an endless universe. What a bittersweet life... this brings me to simpler times of laughing and playing in the sun when I was younger when life was not complicated. Wish I could go back there again :(

theres a theory out there that this guy singing (whose generally considered to be some guy called 'eddie' and not jandek himself) actually IS jandek, but these vocals were recorded when he was much older as opposed to the stuff where he sings in this high pitch whine. hell the guitar playing on this song sounds like it was done on the spot and there are little 'mistakes' in there so i like to believe this is true.

this drumming is a brilliant critique of the human condition, that seeks order and mastery over things. whoever is holding the sticks rejected all that a long time ago. not an easy thing to do
@ceef8688
@ceef8688 7 жыл бұрын
if you are serious, I agree--the drumming is so good here, like Jandek's guitar too (on Six and Six). All played with a blues affectation I find more authentic than slide guitar and scale mastery--it's just honest, heart-rending listlessness and conveying something catchy music tends to hide. It conveys it almost confrontationally... I think Jandek is the child who refuses to play, but stands there facing the other way, in the way, while everyone else plays. Love that man.

Idk man, I don't think that's Jandek on guitar, I feel like he's on drums here. The progression is too melodic. The drums seem to be more of Jan's sense of rhythm. I could be wrong, but thats how I've always felt about this song.

Is that a 55 gallon barrel someone is hitting while subtlety panicking on acid? There's obviously no unprecedented talent here, but rather a pretentious flailing about as though reckless abandon is somehow art. Perhaps this project is a negative concord. The unrhythmic barrel molestation in addition to the apparent cognitive dissonance towards recognition, just cancel each other out. Other than that bullshjt, the guitar and vocals are pretty good.

I think you missed the point. It's not supposed to be groovy, or make much musical sense. It's what music sounds like when it's made by someone with no musical inhibitions, or interest in others' opinions of their work. I don't think that makes Jandek's music any better than anyone else's, it just makes it unique, in that he truly doesn't care if the music sounds good or bad. It just is what it is.

I doubt it. I think parts of the album sound like outtakes from The Rocks Crumble or Telegraph Melts (the first two noisy, atonal tracks), and some songs sound like they're from _You Walk Alone_ (the "accessible" rock stuff) and _Blue Corpse_ (the acoustic songs). He didn't really "sell out"; he just added more conventional features to his formula.
