ROG 12RK Adventure Trailer Full Renogy Solar Upgrade: How We Did It!

ROG 12RK MOD #2!
In this video we add a Renogy Full Solar upgrade to our Encore RV ROG 12RK Adventure Trailer! I show you how I did it! Give some tips on things to avoid! Let you know how well it works! We will be adding all Renogy products. No, we are NOT sponsored by Renogy. All the the components used we purchased with our own money. Our thoughts and opinions are purely our own.
What did we add?
200 Watt Portable Suitcase Solar Panel
Two 100Ah Smart LiFePO4 Batteries
DC 50a MPPT Controller
Communication HUB (for monitoring)
BT-2 Bluetooth Transmitter (for sending charge info to the phone app)
Total price for this system was approximately $1700

You could install a bus not connect 4 wires to a battery in the way you have . Solar cable connectors are a better way of connecting a panel to a charger

looks good and gives me some ideas for the battery system I want to do on the RangeRunner.. I have Jackery stuff already so I could just expand on that, but it gets spendy! We usually run off shore power anyway.

Yeah, we used the Bluetti EB70s and PV120 Flex Panel with the Rangerunner and it did a pretty good job keeping our 45qt DC fridge going! Our hope is that with this system we can be off-grid for much longer which will allow us to go out to some more remote locations! You are correct! It can get pricey in a hurry!

@@TheRunawayGang That’s right, my Setpower PT55 came yesterday. I ran it for a few hours off my Jackery 500 and barely touched the power. Also got a propane fire pit. Amazon had a flash sale, $65!

Nice video! I have a couple of questions. Is that solar suitcase the one with the built-in charge controller? If so, was it pretty simple to take it out of circuit so you’d have the panels going to your new charge controller. Also, did you test with the built-in charge controller before going with the mppt controller you installed? Also curious how you secure the hub and Bluetooth piece and how well that works? I’ve been thinking of something similar with the trailer I’m picking up tomorrow.

Very easy to remove existing controller (not mppt) just a few screws and it pulls right off, the rest is pretty self explanatory once you get it out of the circuit. I did not do any testing as I was already privy to the fact that the mppt controller close to the battery was going to be much more efficient. Just used gorilla tape on the inside of the battery compartment wall. I talk about it and show you on the video how I did it. Very easy and works great! Glad ya dropped by! Blessings!

Hey there Ron! Haven’t been back there yet, not sure if the the 12rk and 12bh have the same water pump location, but I will be checking on mine when I replace the water meter on mine and I will be sure and make a video of it!
