What I love about the "open class" is the whole manner of odd ball engine sizes.
@donniebaker59842 жыл бұрын
Back then in 1974 1975 the Honda cr 250m taking over the Open class as there was no rule against running a 250 in the open and it got pretty obnoxious there was no open bikes anymore everybody's ridin cr250m ,whole open class everywhere you went so AMA stepped in and made the rULE well what we had learned the attractions in the midwest or not that long I say right out in the southwest in the desert and 250 is right at home on the shorter tracks and we'll just eat I opened by that from turn to turn is this that's all you do just turn and turn blast and turn and open visor hassle you got to stand on the throttle and stand on the brace you know where your ass out real quick so what's this rm370 was all about you got the bottom end crankshaft size and weight and stroke of a 250 with a huge big bore piston kind of like the same idea of them ripping;; was every bit of it ripping handle like a 250 in the woods .. crack the throttlel out on that mine road buzz up 100 mph... Then Honda came right back with more revenge with the Mugen 310 CC that was a modified 1978 CR250R but with the Mugen cylinder piston and radial fin head that was still legal under the new ama rules cuz they hadn't figured anybody would soup up 250 especially the factories doing it .. and I never thought about these intermediate cc bikes but all the real estate was it had to be over a 250cc bike to run in the opening class and tada example the RM370 that wasn't just a 250 with some big parts and it was a completely new biuild pbut it had the qualities in the specifications in the lower end of a 250 the ripper. With a big bore jug and piston !unstoppable p jump like a butterfly sting like a bee

Hey Now! You Guys are Doing a Fantastic Job. Keep it Going. Had a paper route/// mowing grass in1980, saved enough $$$ 450 dollars to buy this exact machine I think in 79/80 from a dealer, (Miere and Sons) at the age of 15 without my parents permission. What a Hoot! when I heard it on ur Great Video brought me back. Of course my dad made me take it back a couple months later, but I lived to tell the story> Cheers

I restored one in 2002 after picking it up for 50 dollars at a garage sale. It was a rolling chassis with a motor in pieces in a milk crate. I sold it for 3,500, but before I did I rode it. It is the only dirt bike that has ever scared the shit out of me lol👍🏼

I had one was flat tracking it on a 10 acres of grass it rained hard hours before. Out there 4 gear. I hit patch of water cranked over .Next thing I'm sliding next to the bike laughing my ass off. I'd go pick up the bike go around again. The best.

One of Roger D's championship Suzukis Was in a Tucson car dealership for years. Don Mackey was a good friend of Decosters and he owned a Caddy dealership in Tucson and the bike was on display there. I never saw iit but my mom did . He would come to town from time to time to visit Don and the local Yamaha dealership Eastside Cycle would pull a Honda off the used bike line and prep it for him as he was a honda guy at the time . Then Rodger, Don , the owner of Eastside Jack and a friend of mine that was the KTM rep would go trail riding. It was all top secret and hush hush and you wouldn't here about it until afterwards.... .

Because I will tell you one thing else you can buy these motorcycles when you send your people around scouring through the countryside finding them and you buy them and you got places where you can buy parts cheap and then you want to sell them for a thousands of dollars more I used to buy a YZ 490 for $750 just not many years ago but now you're going to make one cost about two or $3,000 or four we can't do this no more because of you I know you want to stay in business and make money but by God man let us people that still love these old motorcycles be able to buy one

I love what you do my friend but I have to say this with all of my heart what you are doing I know you make a living selling motorcycles but we people that are just a few years older would like to find one of these and buy them but you are trying to corner the market on everything so we don't have to won't be able to buy one unless we pay thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars for one cuz you're trying to build the market up so they cost so much we can't afford one anymore we could buy one and rebuild it and have us a nice old bike like we used to ride when we were younger but we can't do that no more because you are running the market dude you are missing everything up you're buying every damn thing and missing it up for all the rest of us
@thomasclay79472 жыл бұрын
By God my friend we all love these motorcycles I know when you're in the motorcycle business and you're trying to make money but quit sending people out kind of scouring the countryside trying to buy every damn one they can find let somebody else that used to ride these things when they were younger find one and restore it and have a a bite to ride again but you're doing that and you're selling them for thousands and thousands of dollars they can be bought cheap like you're buying them you're buying them for nothing and then you do a little bit of this and that you say you do this and you do that but to hell with that
@thomasclay79472 жыл бұрын
My family has in the automotive business and the motorcycle business all of our lives but I'll tell you what you have the facilities of the resources to buy all of these things up and send people out there to buy them for nothing you have a scouring the country buying all of these 500 CC two strokes there's not many left and there won't be many left when you get through that's for sure how could I ever find one and buy it and restore it if I found one you would have it and you wouldn't want six or seven thousand dollars for it probably oh maybe that's too cheap just a few years ago I bought a YZ 490 for $50 but I bet I can't do that no more cuz you're sucking them up like candy

This is the last coming I will make I sound like a damned fool of course you're going to do this you're in it for the bucks you like these big boars so do I and you're going to monopolize off of them every chance you get so bye everyone you can for $500 a piece put a little bit of work in there for your mechanics that you pay a little bit of wages to and then sell them for $7,000 or whatever a piece I don't know but go ahead and do it
@thomasclay79472 жыл бұрын
I see how you always really these machines up and down the driveway won't go ahead buy some more for about 500 or $750 a piece and then try to sell them to me for 10 grand then I won't be able to do that leave it alone dude save some for some other people okay make your business on parts and other things
