I like what Toni Nadal said about Federer, that he's the purest tennis player, never caused any distraction to the opponent, never tried to use psychological tactics, just went up to the line and played the next point, and won with class, didn't pump his fist in anyone's face. Roddick said the same, after the Wimbledon '09 final, Federer told his team in the locker room not to make too much noise because he knew Roddick was hurting.

Roger is just an intelligent, smart and down to earth guy, as he shows in this interview, seeming so calm and at peace with himself. Yet I think that on this sunday a lot of tears will flow on both sides of the TV screen. - I think all of his qualities helped him a lot in his career as a pro and will help him a lot in his "new" life. And I´m sure that Laver Cup won´t be the last time we will see him wield a tennis racket - senior tournaments are ahead, where players like Connors or McEnroe already set high standards, and Roger will raise them.

I think he was way more mature in 2019. And any grand slam coming his way at that age was a bonus whereas losing the 2008 final at his peak on his preferred surface hurt him much more at the time.
