Prime Roger. They changed surface next year which suited grinders and pushers not attacking game of Roger.
@魚-c3d
@魚-c3d 2 жыл бұрын
The plexicushion mainly had a higher bounce that disadvantaged federer for sure, but if you watch the match between him and djokovic in 2008 you'll see there is a lot of attacking play. Also tsonga reaching the final isn't really a proof that the surface favored grinders.

@@masters.1000 I just stated facts, during the 2008 encounter djokovic dominated an ill fed with attacking tennis. By 2008 many surfaces were already quite slowed down, but I wouldn't call the ones you're referring to "pushers" except for some specific match-ups. It's baseline tennis, but it's also IQ tennis. The AO 2012 final, while being played on a super slow hard court, is a gem of our game.

He neutralised roddicks major strength ,dominated him from the baseline and forced him to play approach shots at the net which wasnt roddicks strong point.. roddick should've stick with his strong forehand shots even though roger hit them back for unbelievable winners which demotivated roddick but the forehand was roddick best shot after his serve

Tennis in 2024. The athletes are soo good. Players are tall, and good movers. They're powerful and have amazing stamina, they're aggressive baseliners and deft touch net players. Some are able to do this week in week out. Their nutrition, training, recovery, the whole schedule... it's down to a science. Sadly, I believe the more it is a science the less of an art it becomes. And in 2022 the greatest artist hung up his racket. Tennis will likely never be the same again. And so it remains in fondly the memory, and in footage like this, let's all never take it for granted. "Shh, genius at work"

Serve bots don't stay in top 10 for around about a decade or reach multiple slam finals. They also definitely can't say that with no Federer they would have almost certainly won multiple slams. How many serve bots even win one slam like Roddick did (Roddick won Montreal and Cincinnati masters back to back right before winning the US Open in 2003)? Or reach no 1? Isner is an actual serve bot. Roddick was a little more than that.

He deffo wasn't a serve bot he had strong groundstrokes. Backhand and forehand tho his backhand was arguably a bit weak for a top player though he improved it later on. You can see how one-dimensional Roddick's game is compared to Federer's. His ground strokes were barely reaching the baseline, he had no answers to Federer's serves as well. Today anyone in the top 10 can play better than Roddick now, the level of baseline rallies and returns have gone up consistently. Federer was probably the first true all-court player that raised the bar for future champions.
