@@flashbarryallen776 😂 Yea, English press likes to hype up their tournaments. But this final isn't the best. It had a great story behind it. Nadal finally ends Federer's dominance on grass, after two previous defeats (2006+2007). He won both Roland Garros and Wimbledon that year. But Djoko : Nadal 2012, had a hell of a tale. In 2011, Djokovic produced perhaps the greatest single season in history. In 2010, Nadal won three Majors. Djoko won three Majors in 2011, and defeated Nadal in clay courts that season. The showdown in AO 2012 was an epic five sets which cemented Djokovic's place on top of world tennis. I have to say, in terms of quality, the AO 2009 final and semi final (Nadal's match) were also phenomenal.

Frankly, apart from the 2004-2006 period, looking back at these videos, I can only now see just what an underpowered scapel that PS90 racket he used back then was and how much it allowed Nadal to bully Federer with huge heavy strokes, even on grass. Seriously, those backhands by Fed are just bunts! In 2019, their shots were much more powerful than 2008. Fed's shots were just cannon balls compared to this match and Nadal too was hitting with far more power. Rafa was an absolute gazelle in 2008. In Rome that year, he made Djokovic look like he was facing a wall.

@cxmxg5 жыл бұрын
90 is the size of the head of the racquet in square inches. Now Fed plays with a 97 racquet, which is a huuuge difference. I played myself (as an amateur of course) for a period with Fed signature 90 sq. inches racquet and it required an insane amount of precision in hitting the ball. I don’t think there are top100 players that play with racquet heads smaller than 95 sq. inches. (I’m not an expert though!) Cheers mate

I like how the tennis audience is so silent when the play is going on and then clap/celebrate in unison after a point is won. All sports are uniquely good.

Nadal had the advantage @ 2 sets up but the way federer came back and took the match all the way was admirable

Check your facts. Nadal won, not Federer… en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_Wimbledon_Championships_-_Men%27s_singles_final#:~:text=At%20Wimbledon%202008%2C%20Federer%20attempted%20to%20surpass%20Borg%27s,and%20ended%20his%2041-match%20winning%20streak%20at%20Wimbledon.

@RickyR044 жыл бұрын
pooperscoop54321 he’s younger and only one slam away to catch federer , I’m sure when both men retire, nadal will have more slam and agreeably the greatest ever
@gherbihicham85064 жыл бұрын
@@RickyR04 He doesn't even need to win more slams (although he'll probably do anyway), Nadal faced a much tougher opposition and has winning h2h, 19 to 20 slams will not outweigh all of those, anyone who considers Federer as the clear GOAT either is stupid or lying to himself.

zakaria djouzi Absolutely AO 2017 Fed would have won this match because of that cross court backhand.

Same goes for nadals backhand lol

Rahul pandey i don't think so.
@rahulpandey82476 жыл бұрын
zakaria djouzi Nadal exploited that weak backhand so much in this match.With a bigger racket and a solid backhand Fed would have won in 4 or 5 sets with all due respect to Nadal.But Nadal knew where to send the ball on the other side of the court that is why he is one of the most intelligent players who ever played this game.
