i was 16 in the fall of '69 when this movie came out. my mother had just changed jobs and uprooted me - a long hair - to cleveland ohio that summer. worst summer of my life. grew up in the berkshire hills of western mass. with a huge music scene all around and the long hair culture in full force. cleveland was like going back in time 20 years - no like minded individuals such as me - just greasers and muscle cars and greaser chicks with teased hair a foot tall. i skipped school the day 'easy rider' hit the movie theater and sat through it 3 times. they did not clear the theater at parmatown mall so you could just sit and watch it again. and again ! damn that was 54 years ago. seems like last week

One of the greatest movie sound tracks ever assembled. Unfortunately, although the film 'Easy Rider' was released in 1969, it has proven to be a visionary, prophetic film that becomes increasingly relevant.

This is the first song I heard after my dad died and it still gets me every time, he was an easy rider of the highest calibre, love you big man still miss you everyday.

I'm 40 I have been trying to be free since the day I was born. I've always been an outlaw since my daughter was murdered and my wife died all within the past year I'm taking care of our son who is ten trying to help him understand not to take life for granted. For whatever reason I find myself going back to movies like easy rider and vanishing point as well as the music. I guess I will always be searching for the meaning of life and dreams while asking God to light the way maybe with his love I will be free or am I free and I don't know it yet

coulda've bet ! listened to the entire OST today in the bathtub and was sure this was a Dylan epic ... although have seen some 15-Y now the film cannot actually recall the things
@robertlagan8441 Жыл бұрын
It was co written by Bob & Roger. Bob wrote the first couple of lines on a paper napkin and gave it to Peter Fonda saying give this to Mcguinn to finish off. Roger finished the words put the music and presto ! Bob requested he did not want his name on the credits.. fact

I meant to add that the murders depicted in the movie bled into the mainstream culture and paranoia became real with attacks on hippies and peaceniks by some straight people who were not all hardhats; some wore suits, like the people who assaulted me in a northern Delaware parking lot in Spring 1970 because a small Peace symbol on the back of my VW Beetle caused them concern...
