I remember watching Farm Aid in summer '85. Forgotten how good this one was. We were Roger Miller fans in my family. Especially Ma. Lost him too young. Willie lives on - thank God.

I was a 10 yr old kid when I first heard the great Roger Miller. I listened to music at night, when I was supposed to be asleep. Roger Miller was among many who influenced a small boy. KWOW Radio Ranch. Pomona California AM 1600.

I was born in 1991 and my mom loved Big River so we went to see it, I loved Robin Hood that he wrote the music for, and then my dad made me a cd of some of his songs probably when I was around ten too. Always stuck with me

Good Ol Willie has lived so long that many of his old friends are gone. Roger Miller himself is one and Waylon the other. Not to mention George Jones, Jerry Reed and Mel Tillis.

And don't forget Johnny. Kris is still with us. I was watching a Willie pbs special a few years ago and recognized the voice of Ronnie McCroury. After careful viewing scrutiny.... yep, there was Ronnie playing mandolin and backup vocals. Willie gets the best to play with him and continues to make more friends. Too many to count! Should we be so lucky. Seeing him live with Ma 40 years ago was her thrill! 8th row. Glad I took her.

I have to wonder if Farm Aid is still around. I hadn't heard of it before. I hope they are around and going strong considering family farms need support more now than ever. I've heard of a few very tragic stories where family farms have been taken over by commercial farms. 😢
