My father is owner of Rogers speakers for more than 30 years and I grow up with this sound character I just like the sound and they sound very good with most good quality amplifiers. I bought hi fi set for my home, but I still like to listening them when I visit my folk's. One day I will take them and enjoy because they are timeless.

interesting, my father worked at the BBC when they were developing these speakers. He was an electronic engineer and some of his ideas and design points (he told me he actually made the crossovers) were part of the original crossovers in the back of these speakers. I grew up watching oscilloscopes and quad 301 amps driving these. I had his original pair of 15 ohm with the 301 amp. Interesting,

@interesting7906 Жыл бұрын
The speakers are very musical but the distortion when the singer hits those high notes is way over the top. That passage... 'you are the angel glow' is too much for these silk domes at this volume. I think these are meant to be played at 80dB tops. I think if they are kept in a small studio at lower volume these are delightful. I m loving the amp too!
@gaborozorai3714 Жыл бұрын
I think it's more the singer's voice getting a bit forced on those notes, I don't think I hear distortion. But you're right that these speakers are meant for near-field listening. In an average size room at a distance of 2.5-3 metres they are just a bit too polite for my taste and cannot be pushed too hard.
@interesting7906 Жыл бұрын
@@gaborozorai3714 that's distortion 4sure, it's on the recording too but it's enhanced by the distortion of the speakers themselves. It doesn't sound like that on my speakers.

What silk domes? Read specifications!

The first Audio Research amp to sound good since forever (1982/85). The reason EZ no 6h30 The 6922/6dj8 6550 is far superior to the awful sound ARC gets today. Maybe the design team will learn how to hear again. The price is still too high and should be half of what it is but at least it sounds good. Of course the new Rogers are stupid money too. It’s too bad would like to get a new pair Had them in 79 83 and 88. Still the best but not worth anywhere near the current price. Audio needs to have a recession and get these prices where they belong.
