TC showed up in a major way. You’ve never been able to use clarity and TC in the same sentence. But on this day they were clear and precise. Both bands were pretty even except for upper brass. TC trumpets and mellows came to feast, and that they did…….we need that SU and TC battle

Exactly, they’re A LOT BETTER than previous years. I think the quarantine time has been good for them, they’re more cohesive and the arranger’s pen game is challenging them as well. Hell of a battle though.

Coming from a JSU, Sonic Boom of the south fanatic. Main problem Dega had was the darn Baritone section competing with they own band as who can be the loudest. Glad they fixed that major problem. Now speaking factual facts. JSU has their own identity, meaning we don’t need 50-60 trumpets to out scream everybody! More of a polished well oiled machine. SU had their own identity, more upper brass written songs to cater to their style. If JSU would attempt to start screaming with trumpets then they would be deemed copycats. Dega came in the game (band world) hunting for SU because they resemble SU more. If yal like all the whole notes and screaming then that’s cool, but coming from a band head, articulation outweighs all that screaming and shouting any day. SU screams but also plays articulated musi.

Don’t need 50- 60 trumpets to be heard like you don’t hear there parts at all and they be having the medley every section shine tc and tc articulate so don’t even try that where is JSU Mellos at also they don’t have no upper brass and they had the best mello section in the swac so what happened trumpfunk know how to scream on fanfares but can’t play a part up in a song and come out so we can hear the medley

Well. Both were good but are we just judging on how they blow because clearly TD may need to work on their tuning as they play. Arrangements, execution, and play book are nice. I personally think if they played more in tune, they would be more effective JSU played more in tune throughout. Once again, is it how hard you blow or how hard you blow and in tune. JSU was the better collegiate sounding band. I give the edge to JSU. Very close battle by dega but they had moments where they couldn’t keep that level of intensity and arrangements going. Probably battle of the season depending on how Alcorn vs JSU/ SU vs JSU shake out.
