Rogue Beginner Guide | Overview & Builds for ALL Specs (WoW Shadowlands)

For those of you who keep harping on the fact that I clicked stealth a couple times to stealth in the beginning, I don't actually click my skills, I was just being lazy and didn't wanna make a macro. The beginning is just to give a rough showcase of what questing/playing on the class looks like, nothing more serious than that, so I didn't think clicking stealth would be a huge deal (Notice I didn't click anything in the rotation section). But yeah, will never make the mistake of doing that again.

I remember when rogues used to nuke people from behind in less than 3 seconds. Now, they actually have to fight. It's kind of turning me off to the class, why wouldnt I just make a warrior?

It depends on what covenant you are, spec and gear. Better have them legendaries. I totally get it though I’ve played since vanilla and back then, it was all about skill

I´ve maine asa rogue for years, I absolutely love it. Stealthing trough alliance cities is butt-clenching and satisfying.

personally for Subtlety, I would take Premeditation so I won't worry about spending combo points for Slice and Dice then I can focus on damage-dealing or CC finishers (taking out slice and dice completely from rotation, spending CP for eviscerate, kidney shots or rupture). Next, I would take Marked for Death for an instant 5 combo points, so you can burst with eviscerate or for a long kidney shot stun (great for stun-locking opponent, very crucial in PvP). Next, I would take Elusiveness instead of Cheat Death because Elusiveness upgrade your Feint so you can have more survivability, Cheat Death's cooldown is so long it's not worth it to take that talent. Other than that is alright, but you can experiment between Nightstalker Subterfuge and Dark Shadow Enveloping Shadows.

I noticed that cheat death is so slow, yes the cool down in Shadowland. wtf. I will check out Elusiveness and see how I like it.

Was anyone else initially confused with them calling them “finishing moves”? I thought that I’d have a penalty for using them if it didn’t kill the target xD (kinda like Shadow Word: Death for Priest)

The fun part of a rogue was that the world was hard and if you pick up more than 2-3 mobs you are dead so stealth was awesome and useful + they just do explote people , why going stealth when you can make a warrior instead and destroy every mob in a AOE rampage being tanky? The leveling experience is just a joke and in the raids no one wait for rogues to positionate anyway.

The rogue is fun to play until you get to about level 30. After that they become weaker and weaker until around level 45 when they become unplayable. At level 49 you can only pull a single target at a time or you will die. You have no crowd control and far less armor than even mages or priests. If you want to level to 60, you will need a group for even the most basic of quests. Basically, the rogue is worthless for PVE. If you want to stealth, roll a druid. They can at least complete basic quests without help and don't die every single pull.
