More episodes too, so we can see the SBS in action as well as the SRS, 2SAS, and the rest of the lads. Termoli is going to hurt though. Also hope they show just how efficient and disciplined the men could actually be, not just rampaging madmen.

He wasn’t as insane as he is commonly depicted. He was actually quite soft spoken in private, and held himself well. He was also landed gentry. Also, the dude was over 6ft of pure muscle, not as scrawny as he’s depicted. Not to say that he wasn’t a beast on the battlefield, but they played up his character significantly in this show

To take command and keep the unit in existence after Stirling's capture, actually much enlarge it, innovate operations in europe, be promoted to lieutenant colonel whilst receiving 4 DSOs shows he was very much restrained. If you read Paddy Mayne by Hamish Ross, it has a lot about the man never known before revealed by diaries released by his family and the donation of the SAS history as recorded by Mayne himself.

All the power in Hollywood couldn't recreate a factual depiction of the SAS. By all accounts their new TV expoits are quite pale in comparison to the actual events. It just so happens that all the men who were there in the regiment didn't keep much record of what happened, apart from their own memories and recounting their version of events back in 1987 for an interview documentary. If, in any way, this series honours those men and their unwavering bravery, then it is a masterpiece in its own right.
