Just saw it and omg it was awesome. I don't even care for Star Wars, not a huge fan or know a lot about it's lore, but omfg it blew ep 7 out of the water. I hated ep 7, it was so unoriginal and no attachment to characters. This movie had far superior writing and you actually felt attachment to characters. I hope they make more spinoffs like this film because I don't have much faith in the newer episodes with how 7 kicked it off.

Both are great movies, they are just different types. This was more of a war movie than a traditional star wars film and was closer in tone to Empire Strikes Back. I loved it but it was kinda weird not seeing any jedi or lightsaber battles and I wish we could have learned more about a couple of the characters, like Saw Gerrera. Not at all. This movie was absolutely epic and tied in very nicely with the rest of the series. With TFA we got a very good movie, but one that 1. Is the exact same plot as episode IV. 2. Has the very definition of a Mary Sue as the main character. and 3. Has a storm trooper that has guilt issues killing anyone but the people he spent his life liveing with.

JJ Abrams had a very good plan for the trilogy that included stuff like Rey and Chewie stealing a star destroyer and Finn leading a stormtrooper revolt but Kathleen Klux Kennedy screwed it up by giving creative control to Rian Johnson. If JJ had directed the sequel trilogy it would have actually been able to compete with the OT in terms of how universally loved they are

@@doge8825 the star destroyer theft and finn leading a stormtrooper rebellion were Colin Trevorrow's ideas Kathleen Kennedy gave creative control to JJ Abrams in TFA, and did the same to Rian Johnson in TLJ. The only movie she interfered in was TROS, which would have sucked anyway because JJ Abrams cant come up with original stories (which is why he just made an updated ep4) and RJ had already used up Episodes 5 and 6..yet JJ still opted to recycle whatever he could from episode 6 and make it different from what was used in TLJ

What a fantastic movie. I saw it in theaters with my dad. There is a theater complex halfway between the towns we live in so we were going to meet up there to see it. I got there first and was waiting. I got both our tickets because he seemed to be running behind. He got there but was ready to call the whole thing off because he had been running late and forgot his phone, plus it was raining. I told him I already purchased our tickets and just said, "Let's just go. At worst we just missed the pre-preview commercials. In a few minutes we will be in our seats and watching Star Wars." He went along and afterwards said he was so glad I talked him into staying. Plus after that we both drove back to his house and watched Episode IV from the blu-ray set I got him the previous year for Christmas. What a great day that was.

I had a similar theater experience. It was winter, because Star Wars movies used to be released every winter, but it was raining too. A freezing rain. I waited with my family for my grandparents to show up because they wanted to see the movie as well, so we missed a lot of the preview ads. I remember noticing that a lot of the scenes in the trailers and TV spots were cut from the actual movie, which was disappointing, but everything about the film was absolutely magnificent. Rogue one will always be my favorite Star Wars movie, because you simply cannot get the same feelings from Revenge of the Sith, the Sequels, or any of the other star wars movie.

Can we all just freaking stop please? Stop bashing the Prequels. Stop bashing Episode VII. Star Wars comes in obviously many different forms. I didn't love the Prequels, but there were things I loved about them. And personally Episode VII was my favorite one of all of them. Good Lord it seems like some people are so focused on being visually pleased in their OWN mind, that they can't enjoy what people in Hollywood spent hard time and money working on to try and please whining and complaining fans who seem as they are never satisified. Totally agree!!' I saw 7 4 times in the theater. I absolutely love it. Still empire mAy be my fav. But i still love it. I love Jedi, I love the ewoks. I thought the prequels got better with each one. I still, every Christmas watch these in machete order, with my 10/8 year old boys, who love it. Then my 3 year ol daughter who adores them all. The look on her face when she learned about Luke's "family" was priceless. So screw the haters, I'll be at the opening night with my mom/dad and spouse.
