@@ajeneameh4302 really is funny how people make things up. And for what reason? I dont care if Martin's won. I'm a big fan. It's suttle things I notice that can tip an event in some one's favor. Most times it won't make a difference but small percentage of times it screws over the other participants. Integrity is needed not excuses.

Love these guys. So good to see them have fun and enjoy the sport...and in front of a crowd again. And Novikov...to be there and perform with everything happening in his homeland...I don't know how he did it...huge dedication and heart. Big props to him...and big grats to Martins. Feels like the strongman stuff got shoved off to the side so the main stage could have people slapping each other in the face. Stuff like that makes me question if I want to waste the gas and drive 2 hours south to see crap like that. It was literally hidden in the back corner of the building. If you didn't know it was there you would not know they had a strongman show. I enjoyed the powerlifting and jujitsu tournament. Plus the expo was cool as it wasn't really busy. But the garbage like the slap fighting needs to go.

I think Novikov's left calf was hurt. But, Licis is the most clutch, primetime competitor there is in strongman. If he can win, he's not going to lose.

Can't believe they limit it to 30 seconds to lap it, especially with so many new competitors seeing the event for the first time. Should've had atleast a minute to lap it in my opinion. Made some trys very anticlimactic.

Making the event easier is the ultimate anti climatic outcome. Remember they could study the stone, talk to those who had lifted it, etc, some learnt these lessons, dome did not.

@@martygough Giving them 30 seconds extra time for lapping it would have no effect on the difficulty, would it? Just compare any of the first timers to Licis or Novikov, whom both have done the event multiple times before - effectively having had way more time to optimize their lifts. Giving them more time would absolutely had made it more interesting both as a viewer and contestant.

@@martygough There is no way you're comparing looking at, and petting the stone to actually feeling the weightdistribution and grip. Try lifting any oddly shaped object close to your max for 30 seconds and see how far you get.

They gave Luke credit for getting it to chest when he didn't. That let him tie for 4th in this event, which gave him the extra half point to tie for 3rd overall. That sucks for Bobby, who deserved 3rd place alone.

It did look as if that 200kg log came straight down onto his knee from about 6 feet up, though angles can be deceptive. I wonder if his age might be a factor in that decision - he's 39 and might have been looking at retirement in the next year or two anyway; if you get an injury that's gonna take you a year to come back from you might think differently about that than if you were in your early 30s? Hoping he makes a full recovery anyway!

I was shocked Tom Stoltman didn't even budge the stone. I know everyone's grip and bodies were shot (especially after the previous event), and, that Tom is a lot more accustomed to atlas stones than natural, but knowing how strong he is, especially with stones, I had figured we would've at least seen him lap it and possibly get it to his chest.

Arnolds should definitely get rid of that 30 seconds to the lap rule here. People like to see the struggle. It's what the arnolds is all about. As one comment mentioned it was anticlimactic in the case of some athletes turns getting cut short due to the rule. 30 seconds is like the blink of an eye on such an event. Some were just getting the feel for the stone when the 30 second rule stopped them.

I hate to bring controversy to this but I do wanna make note that I had no doubt that Martins was going to crush that stone at the end. Why? Duh, it was his coaches personal stone. Is that a little unfair? Yes. Do I care? No! Hopefully each of the competitors had a chance to get familiar with the stone before the competition. Congrats to Martins! Martins has trained these kind of stones outside of Haugen's gym. Go watch the video where he's in Iceland with Hafthor training these stones. He consistently trains all kinds of implements to make himself well rounded. Most others emphasize their strengths and can't quite shore up their weaknesses. Everyone had Martins as the favorite when they saw the events.

@@CarnageIsILL like I said. I have no dog in the fight. I'm just noting the size, odd shape and the balance of the rock or rocks are not as comparable as you think. Here's an example. If you throw the javelin. 5 athletes are in the competition. They all trained with their own spears that have different, lengths, balance and weight. All are very strong and expert with their spears. But on the day of the contest its ruled everybody has to use #3s javelin. What are the odds #3 will win the competition. I'm hoping I'll get an honest answer but I'm not holding my breath.

Why was Romark allowed to enter the platform while the time for the event was still running? I understand he wants to support martins, but this is very unprofessional. Imagine if every athlete decides to do that, it would worst than an amateur show.

I like Romarck but he's become cringe at times. He moved the chalk closer to the platform than any other competitor got and he made sure he was in the shot hanging off of Martins as soon as he dropped the second shouldered stone. I'm getting Tom from Juji Mufu's channel vibes...

Those 4 are all legends. Some of the best strongman has ever seen. We had the amazing opportunity to see them compete against each other year after year. I miss them but several of these guys were actually massive worries for those 4. Martins struggled staying healthy as mateusz is right now. Both incredible. Novikov is young and will be a staple of elite performance for years more. Bob Kearney has become an incredible competitor. You'll see some guys improve every competition this year. I'm excited about what the future will bring.
