I don't think any audience has ever been silent like that. For me, that was THE single greatest performance in the history of the show. It resonated through me and was as good, if not better than the original.

Oh. My. God. I’m 68 yo and I’ve loved this song from the first time I heard it but I’ve never seen Brian sing it till now. (breathe)… I can now say that this is the most powerful version I’ve ever heard. When he hits that crescendo, it seemed like I was feeling every bit of the pain that he’s endured. whew… I had to remind myself to take a breath. So damn beautiful.

My favorite part of this performance -- is actually his mother in the audience looking down at her son, while everyone is gawking in disbelief, she's looking at him like, 'I'm not at all surprised; look at my son!!!! I've always known what he could be!" type of pride ..... that's what being a parent is all about! and as a parent of 3 - that is what i connect to in this video... i love it.... And that silence at the end .. where everyone is collectively holding their breath is like the cherry on top!

"Creep" is a great song for competitions -- allowing singers to showcase their talents very effectively. No doubt, we will continue to hear excellent covers of "Creep" for many years to come. BJC did a powerful rendition that, as you said, stunned his audience. Fifteen months earlier, PostModern Jukebox recorded a very different version...with Haley Reinhart doing the vocal. PMJ is a "musical collective." The founder and creative genius behind PMJ is Scott Bradlee. Scott's specialty is to take a popular song from the modern era and reinvent it in a "throwback style" reminiscent of the mid 20th century. Each of his creations begins with Scott's reimagination of the song. Then, he recruits the musicians and singer(s) best suited to the style he's chosen. In the case of the PMJ/Haley Reinhart version, "Creep" is presented in the style of a 1940s-era lounge singer backed up by a 5-piece acoustic combo. This version is as stunning, in its own way, as BJC's dramatic version. The PMJ/Haley version has 95 million views and 1.2 million "likes." It's located here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o2TPd2WneqZlmdk
