I haven't watched ROH since like 2005 and I've gotta say, I saw this video and was pretty impressed at how stacked their roster is. You have a good mix of veterans and names who can still go (Alex Shelley, Bully), some OG Ring of Honor guys who stuck around (the Briscoes, Dan Maff), some international stars like Rush, and a lot of new faces too.

People are talking about a drop kick finisher but are we ignoring that someone used a fist drop as a finisher in 2020?
@Daxter-hl7dw3 жыл бұрын
People are using punches and elbows too, kinda gave up on giving them high expectations somewhere around Cena's "Lightning Punch" and Jericho's "Judas Effect". I'm not expecting every finish to be a grand spectacle but at least be faster than 5 miles per hour. Also depending on the dropkick finish RUSH and Rhett Titus have some deadly looking dropkicks especially Rush who makes it look like someone took a shotgun to the head. Also I might be mistaken but the fist drop was used in a jobber match, unless there's another use of it I didn't see.
@saadmasood49853 жыл бұрын
Hogan’s leg drop, Jericho’s Judas effect and Cena’s AA are all in there too. Worst finishers ever
@FakeTurtle993 жыл бұрын
@@saadmasood4985 imo Judas effect fits jericho very well as a finisher.
@Daxter-hl7dw3 жыл бұрын
@@FakeTurtle99 I mean maybe if he were younger and slimmer so he could do the turn for it faster, Andrade was using the move,quicker and better, as a basic move or transition move (call for change of pace). And that's not mentioning the other 98% of wrestlers that are thought the rebound elbow. Ik the codebreaker is becoming the next superkick or slingblade but it made sense given that Jericho has put on some size, heck bring back and keep the OG Liontamer. If he absolutely needs a new move maybe try something like Riddick Moss's necbreaker driver, Curtis Axel's Hangman Facebuster or one of the cool moves Brian Myers/Curt Hawkins has, the One last stand (or one night stand?) into a Liontamer sounds like a neat combo.

@Daxter-hl7dw3 жыл бұрын
I agree on the knee slam, but a dropkick makes more sense than a superkick considering how RUSH and Rhett usually perform them it's basically a double superkick square in the face. Also the Knee slam one was a one time thing because the guy hurt his knee and Gresham worked it all match, still a weak end to the match but still.
@TheRandom-inator3 жыл бұрын
@@Daxter-hl7dw well it's weird putting the knee as finishers of 2020 if it was a 1 time thing. But the Dropkick, I like Rush version but a normal dropkick not so much.
@Daxter-hl7dw3 жыл бұрын
@@TheRandom-inator with Rhett it depends on the seller and how he does it, I've seen him do some nasty dropkicks that almost look like he actually kicked the person in the jaw with all the force he had and the seller does a great job. Also from what I remember Rhett is basically playing the underdog character so he needs a move that seems basic but practical, kinda like how Sami has the Helluva kick and Rey has the 619/frog splash. Basically playing off of the old Bruce Lee quote, can't remember it word for word but its something like "fear the man who practiced one technique and mastered it over the one who uses multiple". They could and DO have neater things in the arsenal but that one move is the one they know how to use to it's fullest and in a lot more situations.

@Daxter-hl7dw3 жыл бұрын
@@JoshZer0Stark you're saying a dropkick wouldn't knock somebody out? A dropkick to somebody's head isn't dangerous? The move where a near 200-250 man jumps and then snaps his legs with all the force he can muster into your chin isn't as dangerous as the nearly 50 year old man slowly turning and brushing his elbow on your chin? And I agree Gallagher's dropkick was pretty good but he had to put momentum behind it everytime, Usually all Rhett has to do is catch them off guard like you would a superkick and then snap his feet into them at the right time and angle. The clip they used doesn't make it look as good as it actually is because I originally thought the same thing but then one match I blinked and missed where he blasted the dude in the jaw and it almost looked like he legit hit him with his kick. Also with most dropkicks both guys are running or it's at an angle, all Rhett is doing is whipping his feet into your jaw and kicking it damn near out of socket, you have no momentum to save and push you back and there is no angle pushing you to your back, it's all on the jawline. More vicious than a punch, elbow or superkick at least when it comes to the middleweights.
@JoshZer0Stark3 жыл бұрын
@@Daxter-hl7dw Maybe you're right, never been a fan of Thitus and the clip show me a really lame dropkick. TBH an headlock is one of the most useful submission ever, more than a figure 4 for example; the main problem is that an headlock or a dropkick are moves that almost anyone can use and are really too common; like a ddt or a neckbreaker or a piledriver and a powerbomb. Then we have Jay White that use a move that any Junior in the '90 used as finisher and since then almost any body can pull out; and he doesn't even use it in a sweet elevated way Like Ricochet or the pumphandle like the Bruiserweight. I trust your opinion that Titus use it in a really good way by the way.

Hi. Casual paying wrestling fan here. I've been casually watching wrestling for maybe 20 years now, so I thought I would give you some advice, considering I have never tuned in to ROH before. There is a very small % of people who I would maybe pay and tune in to see. These are: Angelina Love Brodie King (change his name) Dak Draper (change his name) Dragon lee Jeff Cobb (change his name) Kenny King Rey Horus Rush Vincent Maybe if there were larger than life behemoths, then maybe I would tune in. Also FYI I am unlikely to tune in to a match with John Walters and Tracy Williams. I mean are you trying to alienate your fans? Remember when there were cool names like The Rock, Stone Cold, Taker, Kane, Chyna etc. P.s. Don't have a hideously overweight referee calling your most important matches. It takes away from the sport aspect.
