Maybe I have grossly underestimated the power of classical music, but this is the first time when I started to cry bitterly while listening to a song. This, in spite of the fact that I don't understand the lyrics. Music, culture and its people are the three bridges which link our two nations together, the sooner we realize this truth the better for both of us. All these 6 decades of fight and hatred have yielded nothing, lets now start working for a better tomorrow : a better India and a better Pakistan!

Thankyou soo much for this Rohail... thankyou for all that you have done for music but this I feel is your most important work .... I keep coming back to this piece periodically and then indulge to the point of addiction and insanity .... Its one of those things that it can be the ONLY thing you listen to till the day you die and it can be enough.... I won't comment on the poetry or singing or compostion because even praising them is beyond the realm of my capabilities but I have to say Fareed Sahib's physical performance and expressions have indeed elevated this already incomparable qawalli to the level where not seeing his face while listening to this makes it feel incomplete) Love and Awe and Respect...

When ever i come across these type of soulful renditions of any genre (most of the times i listen to only subcontinent) , i always wonder why these performances get any dislikes. I am not criticizing anyone's opinion. Of course, everybody has the right to have an opinion until and unless it hurts somebody and its against the law of nature. But what fault could they find in these people performances, who has put their each and every part of body, heart and soul in the music and they sing as one with the GOD. I would like to find the reason from the person who has disliked it.(just interested to know).

Rohail Hayat and Coke Studio Pakistan have brought together the musical instruments and talented players from all over the world with some singers I had not heard of before but the setup and this orchestra boosts their talent to the highest level. This is revolutionary and ingenious in the musical industry and will be instrumental bringing the world together to enjoy musical creations like these regardless of knowing the language of the song. Great creativity!

Persian/ Farsi Khabaram raseed imshab ki nigaar khuahi aamad; Sar-e man fidaa-e raah-e ki sawaar khuahi aamad. Ham-e aahwan-e sehra sar-e khud nihada bar kaf; Ba-umeed aanki rozi bashikaar khuahi aamad. Kashishi ki ishq daarad naguzaradat badinsaa; Ba-janazah gar nayai ba-mazaar khuahi aamad. Balabam raseed jaanam fabiya ki zindah maanam; Pas azan ki man na-maanam bacha kar khuahi aaamad. ********English Translation. Tonight there came a news that you, oh beloved, would come - Be my head sacrificed to the road along which you will come riding! All the gazelles of the desert have put their heads on their hands In the hope that one day you will come to hunt them…. The attraction of love won’t leave you unmoved; Should you not come to my funeral, you’ll definitely come to my grave. My soul has come on my lips (e.g. I am on the point of expiring); Come so that I may remain alive - After I am no longer - for what purpose will you come?

Absolutely stunning - I cannot think of too many other performances that possess such transcendence and spirituality. Even the musicians who must have rehearsed this many many times seem transported by the music - especially that curly haired guitarist who is becoming my favorite band member! Truly something magical has been created and captured here.
@hishamqureshi98695 жыл бұрын
That curly haired guitarist name is Omran Shafique, along side coke studio he.s also is a member of a band called mauj , very catchy songs in his band as well , he has very strong body of work all these years ,playing for different venues and artists ,
