Others may disagree but IMHO Roine has one of the best voices in all of Prog. And of course it doesn’t hurt that he’s as good or better guitar player than anyone else out there.

I totally agree. It was the reason that his album with Jon Anderson disappointed me. I wanted to hear as much Ronie as I did Jon.

@ProckGnosis5 жыл бұрын
For me it was an acquired taste, much like Jon Anderson whom I wasn't that crazy about initially either (I like both of them a lot now). What really helped me start to appreciated Roine was his work in Transatlantic and The Tangent, both because the other vocalists (Andy Tillison in the Tangent and Neal Morse in Transatlantic) I disliked even more. Stolt started sounding pretty good in comparison, and I slowly adjusted to his tone and style.

Jonas is killing with that RIC. Nice change in tone, still rocking his basslines like no tomorrow. Lacking a little in the vocal / keyboard department.. I know Tomas is not with this project which shows, is Hasse in? I like the vocal variety he adds to TFK.

I don't much like the musical sound of this song - it sounds so much like all of their other stuff. But lyrically what is most interesting is that a guy that doesn't even live in the United States gets what is really going on here.

I don't know, but I feel something lacks, not only Hasse or Tomas, but something lacks in the composition itself. But still, maybe the song's gonna grow on me.

Have to agree, Hasse Froberg alternating vocals with Roine Stolt made The FLower Kings songs stronger.

Tomas maybe. Not Hasse. He is a great singer. But dominates TFK vocals too much, on their later albums. I prefer Roines warm voice ;)
@yoremusic69206 жыл бұрын
@@toniedvardsen8169 I liked the variety their voices brought. But I agree, Tomas is really missing here. Anyway, I feel that even the songs on their first album (Back In The World Of Adventures, without Hasse and no songs from Tomas) sounded much stronger than this one. I don't know what, maybe the melodies sound too tame here, or the harmonies... I don't know for sure.

Tomas Bodin isn't with the band anymore (I believe for health-related reasons). As he was in the band from the beginning and was the only one other than Roine Stolt to regularly contribute compositions, I think Roine didn't feel right calling it "The Flower Kings" without him, but since most of the rest of the band is there and it's still Stolt's progressive rock music, he wanted to keep the connection.
@Tintop6 жыл бұрын
@@MusicVersa really? I saw Tomas rather surprised and disappointed when he knew of "Roine Stolt's The Flower King" tour dates. He said he wasn't even asked to take part. That happened in the flower kings mailing group a few months ago. There was never lost a word about health. And tbh, they had better asked Tomas because the keyboard parts in this song could really need some magic...

Am I the only one who finds the vocal layer really "weird-sounding" and over-compressed in a way? Just feels like it doesn't belong.... I'm saying this as, usually, a big fan of Roine's singing. Great to hear him sing again nonetheless! fun song.

It is The Flower Kings, but the reason the name Roine Stolt's The Flower King because Tomas Bodin is not here in this album, but this is orginally The Flower Kings. R. Stolt, Reingold, Froeberg, M. Stolt (former menber on bass 1994-1999), Kimins (keyboards), the rest are guests.
