Hola Jayro, ¡Feliz Navidad!

A M A Z I N G model! What you see here is not only the mark of a very experienced craftsman, a craftsman who has honed his skill over decades of experimentation, patience and perseverance, but also the mark of a true artist in how he brings the plane to life. The attention to detail is stunning, and I'm sure the original designers are smiling from above. Guillermo's models deserve to be seen by many, and I hope that private collectors will (eventually) donate them to museums for all to admire...

Thank you very much for your kind message, Jim. Very few people realize the matter of research. My study on this subject, and based on my experience, is that 50% of the time needed to build a good model should be devoted to serious research (technical and engineering drawings, manuals and original photos), while the other 50 % corresponds to construction.

Sir, thank you for the nice comment. That's a point; some clients want the models in natural metal (see my A6M2), and others want them painted but without the weathering process (like the owner of Fine Art Models, see my SBD-3, too "clean"). In the case of the Ju 87, the customer wanted it painted and "real". However, you have to consider how long the actual plane survived. It is wrong weathering a model that represents a machine that was only in combat for two days or two months as if it had fought for five years! Many modelers don't understand that.
@Rena152
@Rena152 3 жыл бұрын
@@rojasbazan I've actually never thought about that, but yes, some modelers do actually make them look very weathered; I suppose because "it looks cool" more than anything. I will certainly keep that in mind next time I attempt weathering on a model, thank you!

I will also attach a DVD with the basic explanations and some printed instructions . This will be to be able to satisfy the modelers who ask me for a tutorial now. Do please tell us the materials you use and the types of aluminum sheets you use. I would also like to know how do you stick the aluminum bits together. Do you weld them with a wire welding tool? Glue? Or mechanically bonding them? This is to me the most important information that I need to get started on my own projects. And thanks in advance. Edit: I saw you will be working on the DVD tutorial starting next year. I wish to thank you on behalf of all model makers who are also eagerly awaiting to learn from your techniques!

Sir, you can use any type of aluminum sheet that can be cut with scissors, more or less 27 gauge, and to weld epoxy for metal. I use an epoxy 10 minutes grey color of Argentine origin, but I need to test the options available in the USA in order to recommend what is best for this kind of work on my future video tutorial.

@@porscheguy09 It took two years of full-time work. Keep in mind that absolutely everything was built by hand and to scale, even the machine guns and tires. I had to invest a third of the time in the archaeological investigation of each part (a lot of cockpit equipment is different from the B-2 version), and in the tracing of the 3-view drawings, because the commercial plans are full of errors. Thanks for watching.

@rojasbazan
@rojasbazan 11 ай бұрын

Andreas, as editing a Box Set DVDs with all my techniques and tips will take me a lot of time, I'm thinking of an alternative to be able to offer soon a mini course with my most basic techniques; how I build ribs, spars, panels and other elements. The course would consist of aluminum samples and basic pieces already formed with the instructions and explanations. This will be much cheaper than a set of full DVDs and will be ideal for modelers who don't want to wait that long.

Thank you for the comment, sir. Good question: I've always had a preference for second-rated aircraft and prototypes. During 1988-1989 I had the opportunity to build several models on my own that were then sold through Executive Display Models in London: Douglas Devastator in 1:15 scale and some multi-engine models in 1:24 scale: Halifax Mk II, Bristol Blenheim Mk I (two models) and the beautiful shark-tailed Boeing Y1B-17. Other models I'd like to build: Vought Vindicator, Short Stirling, Dornier Do 17 and Junkers Ju 86. But if I have to choose one, the gigantic "one-off" Boeing XB-15, "Grandpappy".

Saludos.
