Please note that when we mentioned Chromatic Aberration in this video, we should of *emphasized how minor it actually is* . While it is there, the amount present in this lens is SO minor that I would dare say *it would not hinder your shooting at all* . Especially if you primarily use this lens for filming and not stills. You can easily use this lens for professional shoots and we have many times.

The reason you have softness and chromatic aberration on the Rokinon is because you are using the MFT version. Its meant to be a full frame lens and the MFT version is still full frame just with an MFT mount. If you want extreme sharpness and remove the chromatic aberration; Get the Rikinon cine DS canon EF version; THEN GET a focal reducer like Metabones, Comlite, or Viltrox(.71 or 62 are fine). If you want BEST of both worlds; Get everything I just said and then get the MFT to canon EF mount; you can still have the softness and chromatic aberration. I see no advantage at this point by getting riknone cine DS MFT version. none what so ever

I use this lens on a full frame camera generally for landscape still photography. The best attribute in my opinion is the consistent across the frame sharpness, in that respect it bests most of the competition. Also on the full frame sensor the chromatic aberration is minimal even wide open. Stopped down the CA is virtually non existent. This lens with a circular polarizer now several years old is still my go to lens for landscape photography. Using an adapter its been in use with three camera bodies and still going strong. Helmut Danninger it actually isn’t that difficult to balance it on the ronin s but focusing is a bit annoying since the lens is only manual and the ronin s focusing system is digital so you can’t use them together for focusing. @@DiegoKatzakian Can't believe I missed this comment. As hopefully you found, balancing isn't too bad on the Ronin S (little finicky but not bad). Focusing is the problem but I have played around with DJI's Focus and that made the pairing of the Rokinon lenses with the Ronin S 10x more powerful.

@Spartyo5 жыл бұрын
Crop factor doesn't come from the lens, it comes from the size of the sensor in the camera body. Formula: Crop Factor * Focal Length = FF Equivalent Length. In this case, with the GH5 on a adapter, you will have an additional factor: The Focal Reducer factor of the speedbooster. So we get our final computation like so: 2.0 (GH5 crop factor) * .71(Focal Reducer/Speedbooster) * 35mm(Focal Length = 49.7mm Full Frame equivalent on the GH5. If you have a .64x speedbooster, you get 2.0 * .64 * 35mm = 44.8mm FF Equivalent.

Can anyone tell me if focus peaking works on a manual lens? I mean if I am using sony a7 III for instance which supports focus peaking naturally will I be able to see the highlights or is Focus Peaking directly related to lenses that support automatic focus?
@PaperKrane5 жыл бұрын
Focus peaking (at least to my knowledge) is all in the camera body. I have my GH5 and the focus peaking works beautifully.

So if I get the cine version can still taking pictures ?
@PaperKrane5 жыл бұрын
You can absolutely take pictures but you will need to manually focus and adjust the aperture. :)

Does it need a speedbooster for the gh5?
@PaperKrane5 жыл бұрын
We got the MFT version but you can pair it with a speedbooster if you want.

So what you use to connect the lens to the gh5
@PaperKrane6 жыл бұрын
Actually, we don't use an adapter to connect the lens to the GH5. While you can get a full frame version of this lens and use an adapter like the 'Metabones Speed Booster' to get a few extra stops, we chose to get the MFT version of this lens.

@@PaperKrane So this lens will connect straight to the GH5 with no adapter needed if I get the Micro four thirds model?

Could I get your LUT? I love it
@PaperKrane3 жыл бұрын
I really appreciate it but alas, I don't have a LUT for this look. The only LUT used here was the V-LOG to Rec709 conversion LUT. Sorry!

I think if you’re native or adapted it won’t focus breathe but I’m not sure about speed boosters might look into it as I’m considering a faster lens for video work

Well to be technical, no. I have been making videos for my wife’s channel but have really been wanting to start up again on my channel.

Nice review, kind words, gentle criticism! You've made it clear to me that this lens works just for specific subjects but for those it really is fine and yeah aberration is mostly for "videophils" who aim for hollywood quality only. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

Start doing small jobs and work your way up! Everyone starts low. 3 Years ago I started with a Lumix G6 with a Meiki 28mm F2.8 and started doing small jobs. Now I'm owning a camera I only could dream about 3 years ago!

Hey man, just wanted to add. People often say that actually buying new CAMERAS is a bad investment as compared to buying new LENSES (glass). Because a high quality set of lenses will bring up every camera's quality, even after your first camera is loooong gone. That's why I'm okay with buying these expensive lenses; they'll be waiting for me even when I move on from my little GX85 to the Black Magic Pocket 4K, for example!
