That looks like a proper decent knife 🔪 my friend and a great first impression video, love the look of it, sheath retention seems really strong, not too sure about high it sits with the clip but guess you get used to that, a very traditional knife that should serve you well, winter looks proper set in there my friend hope your doing well and looking after yourself...great video thanks for sharing atb jj

Sheath retention too strong 😂. Loosening up now, now I can get it in and out without doing myself a mischief (that's not how I intended that to sound😂). Probably going to try some other options to attach it other than my belt. Will get in the way of my rucksack too much there. Better outside of the coat in winter anyway. This isn't winter yet mate, when my moustache freezes to my beard that's when I know its winter. Thanks for watching buddy.

Thanks mate, maybe it helps having an expensive knife to make feathersticks. My initial impression is that it is maybe not worth spending so much money at least for the way I tend to use a knife.. Let's see how it performs over the next few weeks. Thanks for watching again mate. Best wishes.

Good grief mate it looks cold! All those beardcycles hanging off ya lol!! Wow that is a nice knife but its saying 146 american dollars, thats a bit too deep for my empty pockets(minus the lint in them). Its good steel thats for sure(going by what you told me before), You make feather sticking look easy lol. I feel like such a noob looking at yours haha. Sort of reminds me of the cold steel finn hawk a bit mate! Amazing review Tim! If you ever get sick of it send that bad boy my way ok, I promise to put it to good use haha. It is pricey. Checked my bank account (I don't usually read those silly statements) and was actually quite surprised at how not poor I am. Decided to buy a couple of things that I couldn't normally afford this was one of them. Never bought a knife this expensive before (though my carving jack comes close). To be honest I think I have better knives that were a lot cheaper. Will check out your link later mate.

@@ironkid8836 personally I prefer the sissipuukko. The edge of the Rokka I think is a little too prone to chipping. The sheath is definitely growing on me, it was extremely stiff at first but seems to work great now. Not had to sharpen it very much at all. Just been keeping it well stropped. Maybe the edge is a little too hard if it's chipping and hard to sharpen. I have not had these issues, at least yet. @@KuukkeliBushcraft You bet. You do a good channel mate. The only reason I had to do such resharpening was because of having to remove those tiny chips. I haven't had anymore chipping. It may have been the factory edge. There's a magic bevel on this one. It's either there or it's not. Cheers.

It was roundabout - 16 degrees Celsius (or 3 Fahrenheit). I don't want to say too much before I have used the knife a little more but I would definitely expect the edge retention to be better than on the Jääkäripuukko. The Jääkäripuukko however feels better in my hand and I like the Jääkäripuukko sheath more. The blade geometry on the Rokka seems extremely good though. But it is also very expensive. I could change my mind on some of these things by the time I do the proper review (so please watch it🙏). Winter is definitely on its way. We should have enough snow for dog sledding soon and enough ice to cross the big lake to the national park. Not getting very much daylight though. @@c_branco same steel but different heat treatment. I'm planning on buying this knife but wonder how would you sharpen a rhombic scandi. Did you get to sharpen it until now? Amazing presentation, by the way. Thanks a lot.
@KuukkeliBushcraft
@KuukkeliBushcraft 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much, glad you liked the video. The rhombic shape doesn't affect the sharpening at all. Just treat as you would treat a scandi with a micro bevel. I am using this knife daily and quiet hard at the moment. The edge retention is good but I still sharpen it about once a week. Primary bevel on the stone and then strop then a few passes over the micro with the strop is how I have been treating it. Will eventually lose the micro and have a scandi-vex (a slightly convexed scandi grind just in case you didn't know the term). I have noticed a slight twist in the spine. I believe it to be a defect from the manufacturer in the heat treatment. Could also be from me battoning the knife (I don't batton through anything thick or knotty). I am thinking that maybe the spine is a little too soft. It is very slight and barely noticeable. I will be doing a full review in the next couple of weeks. Other than that it is a good knife. More info in the review. Just thought I would let you know that in advance as you are thinking of buying one. Thanks for watching my freind. Best wishes Tim
