great “finally no cheesy 80s pop covers”, the only demo that shows (except fir the boring hoover) the true modern potential of this synth and how timeless it is 👌. i would describe the Alpha Juno sound as “Emotionally 3Dimensional” especially Percussive Chimes is so so dope🫶🏻🫶🏻. also people don’t know but this synth is far far more nicer in a Trance track than the JP8000

AH The Alphe Juno's the whole Rave / Gabber scene was seriously based 90 % on the 909 and the Alpha Juno. Can't be beaten for those raw hoover sounds That pitch envelope and chorus are so good :)

do the presets work with an MKS-50?
@StarskyCarr3 жыл бұрын
I’ve not tried them but I think so. I’ve seen other sites where the patches are interchangeable. The MKS50 has some extra info per patch (pitch bed range, volume etc) so I think it must just leave these at default settings. But as I say I’ve not tried.

This synth never ceases to amaze me, so simple yet so unique in sound. Starsky, what would you say comes closer in nowaday synths ?
@StarskyCarr3 жыл бұрын
Its odd, in that nothing really does this. There are synths with complex envelopes, but don't have the same waveforms (Waldorf stuff). The u-He Diva has the waveforms, but simple envelopes, and that's software. So it's quite unique.

I bought a new Screen when the backlight died…. Well a few years later! As far as I remember it was really cheap about £17 from a German website - but dont ask which. Easy install with no soldering. Actually it wasn’t the screen just the backlight strip I think.

The Specular Tempus is what makes this sound. Nobody else has noticed it yet... and that's just fine. It's kind of a secret weapon for synth players, courtesy of the guitar world. Also... where did you get your Hologram Microcosm?

I've owned the Alpha Juno 1 briefly in the mid 90s. Never was very really a fan of its sound. It's nice to be able to have realtime control using the Retroaktiv, but the sound still can't really convince me.
@StarskyCarr3 жыл бұрын
Its always frustrated me. It can't do squelch, and the envelopes aren' t very snappy... but it can do so much more than the presets would suggest.

Great synthesizer. Terrible digital envelopes compared to the Juno 60 or even 106 though. No really made for percussive sounds or basses.
@StarskyCarr3 жыл бұрын
no, not good for percussion... I think I mention that in my walkthrough (coming soon). It's pretty good for basses, but not squelchy stuff, and you can get some thunderous stuff using the filter. Even though it won't self-oscillate the bass can rattle the windows.
