Don't forget charisma. A keytar is a much better conversation piece than a regular electric guitar, and you've gotta be pretty damn fun if you look at one of these and say "yeah, that's the shit I'm gonna play".

No competition? Nah, definitely competition. you can do so much more effects with the base instrument, without the need for pedals. There's so so so many more sounds to play. The synth engine is just a beast. way more customizable than a guitar, and potentially even better sounds (although hat part is obviously up to option) Guitars are of course, really damn epic....but keytars are more customizable and versatile. And just look cooler, imo, lol

Ale cascio I’m a guitarist(and keyboardist). But, I have to admit the keytar is a better instrument: 1) stays in tune 2) libraries of sounds 3) one hand can do what takes a guitarist two... 4) no amps and pedals... 5) don’t have to change strings or get fret jobs. 6) did I mention it stays in tune? People often associate keytar with the imitation of guitars or synths, but you also have access to Rhodes, Organs and bass sounds...

@@bgm9517 Idk about that guitar that never goes out of tune....but you still have to buy and replace strings, no matter if they last a month, or a year, or whatever. Plus there's so much more you can do with a keytar. Guitars are of course, still pretty damn epic....but I like keytars more

@@BryanSorensen 1) Tuning is so easy 2) Electro-Harmonix and Roland Gr-55 pedals exists 3) Tap Style 4) Keytars need speakers. Guitar pedals are cool 5) Keys can gain wear and tear, and guitar strings are super cheap. and you don't NEED to get a fret job 6) Did I mention the keytar needs like 4000 batteries for wireless and only lasts 4 hours 7) Keytar looks so nerdy, while Guitar looks radical

@@n3rdbr09 1) Tuning/intonation...guitar is an imperfect instrument that can never actually play in perfect tune. 2) Keytars have access to LOTS of onboard sounds (no pedals) 3) Again, takes two hands vs one....And while you are thinking about it, try playing a Cmin7 chord in root position (don't leave out any chord tones). Now, play the 1st and 2nd inversion... 4) Weak point...even acoustic guitars pass through speakers when playing live. Pedals are a pain in the ass (they suck your tone and clutter up the stage) 5) Again, weak point...Why do you think that all of the highest paid guitarists in the world have guitar techs that travel with them (constant string changes, neck adjustments, fret jobs and amp repair)? 6) Sure keytars need batteries. But, so do all your guitar pedals, active pickup systems and wireless guitar packs...You are splitting hairs. 7) I too like the look of guitars. But let's be honest. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Now, get back to practicing young man.

Looks like I still need to learn guitar… keyboard isn’t good enough to make guitar sounds. I can clearly hear the difference. The keytar sounds more like a synth. Even with the note bends, the sound is still flatter than that from a guitar. The guitar is naturally more nuanced in pitch and timbre. There’s still better expression with the guitar. I’ll practice guitar more now. Goodbye finger tips.
