The JX-08 Boutique reacquaints you with the unique voice of the classic JX-8P synthesizer, with some major upgrades. A staple of the ‘80s, the JX-8P was famous for its warm pads, shimmery chorus, and crystalline tones. Now, you can add this iconic synth experience to your modern studio with the JX-08 Boutique model.
The JX-08 offers a range of powerful new effects, expanded presets, and a polyphonic sequencer. Explore over 100 new patches for a more contemporary sound or use the hands-on editing functions, included on the unit and ported over from the original companion PG-800 programmer, for the ultimate JX experience.
The compact JX-08 fits just about anywhere, and with updated USB-C audio/MIDI and full-sized MIDI jacks, you can play and synchronize with almost any piece of gear. There’s also an external clock input, so you can sync to vintage analog instruments or modern Eurorack systems.
More Details:
• 32 original presets, plus 111 new presets
• 17 new effect types including JUNO-106 chorus, LO-FI Comp, and Pitch Shifter

• Onboard arpeggiator
• Two-part multitimbral for playing multiple patches with dual and split capabilities

The most frequently asked question about the new JD-08 and JX-08? Polyphony! ℹ The JD-08 has a maximum polyphony of 128 voices. Please note, this can vary depending on patch load. ℹ The JX-08 has a maximum polyphony of 20 voices. ℹ Sequencer - Two-part, eight notes per part (polyphonic)

Dear Roland...Seriously...if this series (Boutique) were 19" RACK MOUNT I would Own ALL OF THEM...apart from my Roland originals I still own like D50, SH101 etc...Keyboardists like me DONT CARE if they would be 4RU high either. I can also guarantee you Pro Keyboardists DONT carry Desks/Tables to GIG'S...Strangely all the Synths in the Botique range were ORIGINALLY designed for Pro Keyboardists...yet these re-issues if you like seem to be designed for Bedroom type's to put on their Desks...Why?...I've also noticed a lot of talk recently about the LACK of RACK Mount Synths...Come On Roland...you can do it!!!! isnt your Moto..."We Design The Future"...Be the leader Roland used to be...Be the provider of high quality Pro Gear for Pro Keyboardists you used to be...instead of targeting the cheap Bedroom market on these synths as that market want the CHEAPEST THING AVAILABLE...I would pay for these synths in RACK Mount format!!!!!!!......Do It...just Do It (to quote Nike:-)

Sounds great but serious hum and noise problem with USB, and if you want to transpose a sequence, you can't do it from a Midi keyboard, you need to buy the Roland dock. 😡

Just Aname - 'pro keyboardists' are a tiny fraction of the market, what Roland are doing makes perfect business sense. I don't miss rack mount gear, that was the past not the future. It's why rack mount pretty much doesn't exist now.

Roland, how about a bigger flat keyboard / holding unit with the ability to insert 3 boutique units that can be switched between? Having three classic synths in one portable gigable unit would be top.

Fantastic idea. I’d buy that. Right now though I wish the supply chain crisis wasn’t delaying Roland getting their 2021 products to market. You know there are huge cargo ships on the coast of California full of Roland gear waiting to unloaded. I’m thinking of taking up piracy. LOL

Maybe Roland could launch a complete line of midi controllers oriented to Boutique users including a smaller keyboard (about 60cm/23,62") with just 3 octaves & 37 keys to join the smaller K-25M for those who like more portability.

Such great news, wow! 😍 I bought my JX-8P with a PG800 new back in 88/89 and used it as my 1st and 2nd keyboard for 2-3 years (with a AJ2 which I flipped for a D50 a few years later). Such great memories although I did not understand how to program it back then. Makes me happy to see Roland bring an updated version of the JX with more power, polyphony and features. Behringer has done many synthists a favour by bringing out new versions of old keyboards, like the Model D and Poly D, and they are nice instruments with added extras - good to see that you at Roland are taking notes. My JX-03 and JP-08 are really nice modules, but I would have liked 8 note polyphony among other things! Now my JX-8P has been lent out for 10 yrs to a friend, another 10 yrs to a studio and before that 5 yrs in storage. I really started missing it now when watching this demo. I think it is time for JX to come back home and very soon 😄

I've had this feeling already since the spring and this new announcement just took my need to revisit JX-8P to a whole new level. :-D I will seriously consider the JX-08, too. My main instruments today FA-07 and the good old VK-7, but I have a few other nice Rolands, too.

Great video and David did a GREAT job with the demo! I've been waiting for a JX Boutique and I'm going to give this a long look. It would be awesome if you dropped a follow-up video focused on the sounds so people like me could sonically compare them with the original. In our virtual world where there's no brick-and-mortar stores to check stuff out, I'd rather hear a Roland evangelist play as many sounds as possible then the youtubers who don't really have a good handle of the instrument banging through them. And definintely add the "20 note polyphony" aspect to future demos, easily one of the most important aspects of the unit! I totally get the sequence aspect being big with a group of your potential market, but I'm in for the sounds only and there wasn't enough here for me to call Sweetwater and pre-order... just yet :-) And yes, y'all are LONG overdue to offer a 49/61 note controller with full-sized keys for live gigging that could secure two or three boutiques.

I have had 3 x JX10s and a JX8P.... the JX8P was the third synth that I bought in 1987 after a Juno 60 and CZ5000. Only half way through the video at this point. I do hear a lot of the same character but at the same time I hear something that is quite different to what I recall.... dare I say it sounds a bit tighter (JXs had a slow attack) and capable of a broader range of sounds...

Having had and sold a JU06 due to lack of polyphony I'm very interested in this. I had an actual jx8p a few years ago, but it was so huge and the lack of controls didn't make it fun to play. This seems a great option tbf

It's great to see that the boutique line is not dead and I love this two new synths, but what about the TR-707/727? With so many synths from the '80s, we need a boutique version of the 707 for the full combo :)

@@wackerburg I have the 6s, and I have the Roland Cloud 707 but is not the same. Actually I have all these new boutiques sounds in my Jupiter X and the ROland Cloud, but the fun part of the boutiques is that they look like the original synths. I use the 6s a lot, but I always prefer to work with the TR-06 or the 08 or 09, with their limitations. Maybe is nostalgic and for sure is design.

@@MaximilianoSchneider Interesting statement, Max! I just got the TB-03, one week ago. My first boutique unit. I have some of the original units, the 303, 808 and 909. Buying the TB-03 was completely spontaneous. I wanted to have an alternative 303-ish machine and so far I really like it for what it is. I even thought about getting a TR-09 or maybe the 08, for mobile use and just toying around. Then again, I limit myself to a certain amount of machines and since I do have the orginal units, I do not create much redundancy. Multiple 303-lines are great, hence the addition of the 03. I also have both the 707 and 727, but just now, I thought about replacing these with the TR-6S or 8S, because my space is very limited - 1m wide, three levels high. The space for either the 707 or 727 (I interchange those from time to time) could work perfectly for the TR-8S. I assumed, until your post, that the TR-8S would be like a 7x7 on steroids for me 😂

Would love full size reissues of the Alpha Juno's and JX-8P's! I know it probably wont happen, that's why I got a vintage Alpha Juno and I love it, but some modern features and more control would make it a legendary new instrument. Considering everyone is still using Juno's to this day.
@ivorydungeon909
@ivorydungeon909 2 жыл бұрын
FWIW I'd also love an alpha... with accessible controls. I wouldn't even mind if it was a ACB reissue in a boutique form factor - basically, what they've done here except for the Alpha Juno... think something like that might be feasible but I doubt we'd ever get a FS analog reissue...
@qlyde
@qlyde 2 жыл бұрын
@@ivorydungeon909 that would be cool but I think the AJ in a boutique series is kind of redundant because they already have the JU-06A and the JX-08 now! So I’m praying for a full size AJ reissue with more hands on control and modern upgrades. But I highly doubt Roland will venture back out into the full size analog synth market anytime soon considering people have been loving/hating the boutique series and nothing has changed so far in their releases
