Roland D-10 D-20 D-110 Free Patches

I bought a D-10 about 5 years ago for $10. It's in great shape and fully functional. Thanks for making these. Your patches are really going to make this come to life! The Juno Pad is delicious!

$10? Randy is lucky. I bought mine for $1000! But that was in 1988. It has a great sound engine if you try to program it. I sold mine after two years but I still feel nostalgic about it. At that time it was the first multi-timbral keyboard with reverb.

You're welcome snapshotmusic! Sweeten Piano was originally a patch by Austin Leeds. His patch was originally set in Dual Mode. I then switched it to Whole Mode to optimize his patch (increase polyphony).

Hi jerkin I download your patch into my D-10 and they work but will not stay in memory for long and when power is turned off and on it reverts back to factory reset sounds. Any ideas what could be wrong? I’ve tried over and to load the parch but always does not stat in memory when the key board is turned off then back on. Really bummed out😢

Maybe the lithium battery inside your D-10 needs to be replaced. If it is not the battery, check if write protect is on.

Thanks for trying out the sysex patch :) At least I can confirm that D20 and D110 and possibly D5 works. May I know what software did you use to load the sysex to your Roland D-20?

Hmm, maybe it has something to do with ROM firmware difference. My D-10 version is 1.10. Yours might be 1.07 or 1.12. I'm curious how your B15 Moist Epiano sound like

Well, partially, I did. For some patches, I did import using Synthworks for LA Synth. The other patches, I made by playing around the patch settings. The rest came from Austin Leeds' sysex.

You could try. Do a backup of your D-5 first before loading this sysex patch. Just note that the sound of the patch may differ from your synth, like the absence of reverb.

im on mac and I'd like to get the files to my d110 without overwriting the factory patches, where is the best place to start? Is there an editor you'd recommend?

I don't own a mac, but you can try SysEx Librarian to transmit the patch to your D-110. You cannot put the files to your D-110 without overwriting the factory patches. You need to backup your factory patches to your computer if you want to keep your factory patches and use them again later on.

D50 may be the closest thing we could have for vst. Hope they do add D10, D20 or D-110, as they did year after D50 came into production.

Thanks! Hope this helps. There's a program called STEem. To use the emulator, you'll need a ROM firmware uploaded by an owner of Atari ST. You just need to apply same principles as you would on a real Atari ST (can only imagine) In the settings, select the MIDI hardware that you have. Any midi with proper drivers will work, but I won't recommend the generic usb midi, system exclusive messsages fail in that hardware. The ones that I have tested are Roland UM-ONE or M-Audio Midisport Uno, or a PCI cards based M-Audio Delta Series. If you're in Windows XP, Creative The gamepad port for Sound blaster might also work. Download the floppy image of Synthworks by Steinberg, then mount that to STEem.

It is a collection of different patches. In any sysex file, you'll find 128 patches, 64 from bank A, and another 64 from bank B. The patches I demonstrated are the ones I commonly use, like the EPianos. There are other synth sounds not demonstrated in the video. Make sure to set your D-10/D-20 to Performance Mode to see all the patches

You could find more sounds by searching "Roland D-10 sysex patches", or try any of these: 1) Bobby Blues' Collection. bobbyblues.recup.ch/diverse/diverse_synths.html (I use Bome SendSX for sending and receiving the sysex patch to the synth) 2) Steinberg Synthworks for Roland L/A Synthesizers (Using an Atari ST or STeem Emulator). www.avtandil.narod.ru/atarie.html AVTandil has uploaded free collection of tones on his site and you could save them one by one in your Roland D-10. The software is both a live editor and sound library. 3) Creating your own tones in this synth. The layout of the D-10 makes it hard to program the synth though it can be done. It's easier to do it in an editor like Steinberg Synthworks or SoundDiver. They are old programs they can be used in Windows with some tinkering.

Yup, it should load in D-110. Same sound engine as D-10 and D-20. Just differs by purpose. D-110 being external rack with separate tracks, D-20 has a sequencer.
