The Kawai just sounds so much more realistic, it’s character is undeniable

I listened to a recorded video demo of a kawai for the first time yesterday and was blown away by how realistic it sounds. So glad I found this out prior to purchasing a Roland

Kawai definitely sounds better than the Roland in my opinion. I have an acoustic grand piano, but I'm looking for a digital piano so that I can play late at night without disturbing the neighbors..

The roland is more metalic you can hear the différence i would choose the kawai from Roland Roland is more for pop music Kawai can play jazz and some classical pieces
@benjaminsmith22874 жыл бұрын
The Roland can play jazz fine, show music, and some Classical as well. I play this piano often at a friend's house and I don't play pop music. At louder volumes, yes, the Roland can sound metallic but not a medium and soft dynamics. So the trick is to play softer and turn the piano up and go to the hard touch sparingly.

Kawai sound way better. is the one i will get. i have been looking at many brands and for the price i think is the best and it as Midi in and out, very important too. they have it on black to now. thx

I love both sound pianos, BUT I just watched Kawai CN-29 $1.5K digital piano (Thanks Merriam Music). That I've just mentioned sounds warm and realistic. I will purchase this one, it is clear winner to me.

I ordered a Kawai KDP 110, but months away from shipping. A local guy has new Roland FP60 package for about the same price. I don' see a comparison on KZbin.

KDP110 does NOT have escapement (this video claims that it does). But I love the action of KDP110 nonetheless. also F140 main piano sound is just 'Okay'. Just my opinion though.

Yes, we made a booboo on one of the slides. gruu baa is correct, no escapement on that one - but a great action nonetheless!

Excuse me... in the sound section you compare the raw, default sound of the piano of each brand. But what if you decrease f140r brightness? Would the sound become more similar to kawai's warmer tone? You know, just in case one of us want to buy f140r (cheaper here) but hope to get a darker tone like kawai.
@argi07743 жыл бұрын
Really? Here, the new KDP-120 is cheaper than the Roland F 140, which is absolutely inferior in this comparison
@philgray102310 ай бұрын
I know this is 2 years ago, but I use the Roland piano designer to change the sound. I actually prefer the Yamaha sound but bought a Roland HP605a because I got it hardly used and at a price cheaper than either of these. I was playing a Fazioli grand in lessons and the Roland comes close in key feel. Of course the Roland is always in tune, unlike the Fazioli. In real stores, I didn't find the Kawai sound to be great and Ron Craig didn't rate them. I guess they have improved since Ron tried them. A big thing with the Roland is the blue tooth stability. It just works and locks on as soon as I lift the lid. I've never found another blue tooth device as trouble free.

Besides Roland RP series, are there any other console style digital pianos from Casio, Kawai, Korg, or Yamaha that feature auto rhythm accompaniment?

To me the default acoustic piano sample on the Roland F140R sounds decidedly artificial. The Kawai KDP110 sounds much more like a real piano.

Same question on this video. You explained multiple times that the roland does not have the triple sensor... later (11:42) in the comparison specs, both piano's have a triple sensor. Still unclear what sensor the roland has. Can someone tell me this?
@MerriamPianos4 жыл бұрын
Hi and thanks for the question. I just clarified with Roland that the F140r DOES in fact have a triple sensor. They don't make mention of it anywhere in their published specs, but on some PHA-4 write ups it lists the triple sensor, so there is a bit of confusion out there. I didn't help that fact with the video lol :p I'm adding a card as we speak to the video.
@hotchickenflip73054 жыл бұрын
Thanks for clarifying! Awesome that the roland also has the triple sensor. Thanks for the reaction and the great video's explaining well what these piano's can do and correcting the vids ;)
