Great review. You seem knowledgeable about the keyboards. Although you didn’t play any of them, it was the knowledge of the keyboards that I was impressed with.

Lol 😆... I still regret sold my Fantom G8 because it's to heavy. But I really miss the modern sounds, especially the electric guitar is shine. I'll get the G soon again 👍

I have the g8 with arx 1&2 still like it today and yes it’s an easy to learn synth and yes the bass sounds are extreme loaded, and with dedicated features for a better dawless workflow. Nice review 💙

I have several boards and I do like my Fantom G8. Do you have any advice on how to make the pianos sound better?
@ET2carbon8 ай бұрын
The piano ROMs? The actual acoustic piano patch to sound better? You're gonna need a large sample library like 50GB with 32-bit PCM or DSD/DXD samples recorded in a pro studio in proper round Robbin procedure with multi layering of the many levels of velocities along with the recordings of associated room mics, pedal noise, etc. kontakt has great multi sample engines but for super realistic "better" sounds, it's not gonna come from any of the boards shown here
@ET2carbon8 ай бұрын
Sorry i don't know why I didn't suggest this. You need to install the PIANO ARX SuperNatural board into your G8 for better piano sounds.

As long as the workstation has clear and clean acoustic sounds, I'd be fine with that. With my understanding of sound desigin, I can adjust the amp and filter, envelope generators, apply effects, and manipulate the sound to my liking, but the samples must be clear and clean. With the Fantom's dedicated synthesizer section and the knobs under the screen, it provides more real-time control and fine-tuning, and a better hands-on experience than any other workstation I know of. All other workstation manufacturers should adopt Roland's approach to real-time, hands-on control with an array of dedicated knobs.

Hi Sadly Roland have dropped their support for the Fantom G ( in fact any keyboard that is more than 2 years old ) I have a G8 and a Kronos and wondering if you have had any success in getting the Kronos to change voices on the Fantom via midi? I can get the Fantom to change voices on the Kronos but not the other way round. I know how to use MSB and LSB settings on the Kronos but finding that when the Fantom changes voice it ends up with lots of red arrows next to the individual voices suggesting it is receiving other data and editing the LIVE patch? tried all sorts of things but no luck. Would really appreciate your advice as you have both keyboards. Thanks in anticipation. Regards Mike

No I never used the Kronos as my main board controlling the others. The size of the Fantom screen made me always use it as my central board.

@@jamsessions41 Hi, resolved. I would agree the Fantom G screen ( although not touch sensitive ) is a much easier, simpler and aesthetically pleasing to use than the Kronos which I REALLY dislike but the Kronos does benefit a 16 channel interface than the Fantom 's 8. If I had to get rid of either though I still prefer the Fantom G ( and many of it's sounds )

I love the Roland Fantom.. I currently have a Fantom X6 and I agree that the sequence is not as strong as the Yamaha but the Fantom is the most user FRIENDLY FOR me.. I actually had the original fantom and the second generation Fantom S. I wish the Fantom X had the same sequencer as the Fantom S..
@romantahirov69734 жыл бұрын
What the problem? use the fantom s.

Tbh Roland Fantom G beats the Motif you can layer more sounds which the motif you can’t

Roland has the best sound but a finicky operating system. The Fantoms do not play well with DAW software, even the new Fantom which I just purchased and will be returning. Yamaha on the other hand sounds pretty damn good and fits in perfect with any DAW, especially Cubase. My MODX works smoother than my Fantom and it is half the price of a Fantom so I am voting for Yamaha. Korg is just goofy and hard to operate, if you ask me.

I sold it after only having it for a few months.. Took a $400 lost but $1200 was better than anything less.. But I'm I spent $600 on eBay for a ment condition Fantomin cluding a 1 year.. warrantee

I bought Yamaha Motif XF in 2015, roughly half an year before The Montage came on market, and i was then truly pissed of that i couldn't know what was coming and didn't know to wait for it, so long time i tried to convince my self that Motif XF is just good enough to my workflow, till i finally bought the new Montage and i'm now very happy with it. I'm not saying that Motif XF would be lousy synth at all, coz' it truly isn't, but as i'm doing such an psychedelic atmospheric acid techno house combining an old-school and nu-skool stuff together with a slight of oriental touch, so Montage fits better than Motif XF for my workflow, and now i'm planing to sell my Motif XF.
