I have this keyboard. I got it as gift brand new in the box back in 2005. It has the easiest sequencer. I wish my Yamaha MODX has the same sequencer.

I sent abrand new MODX right back to he seller becauseof the cheap cheap cheap key bed and turned around and bought the Montage. Buti just bought me my 2nd Fantom X cause I realized how ahead of its time it is.

Nice video! I got the Fantom X and am trying to figure out how to make new rhythm patterns using the sequencer and assign them to the 8 rhythm darkened pads so that they can be picked up as a "performance" setup in the User section. KZbin beat making videos don't show the actual procedure (i.e. which buttons to push and which screens to pull up), only the results. Thanks.

@Diazeo.. Man.. Ive had my fantom for a while now and i never knew you could jump to a different track while on rehearsal mode.. Many ppl still use the fantom x and you really dont find tutorials on it.. I think you should try making a few more.. Go a bit deeper on it.. You'll gain alot more sub's.. Hope to see some more on the X.. Appreciate this video..

Thank you so much. Until I got my first X8 2 yrs ago, I used (dont laugh) staff paper and a typewriter. I am taking a course for Pro Tools 10 and it isn't any easier. Its like a 3D game of plinko. Please make more videos and make some for ppl like me who never used a computer before, and explain what and WHY you are doing what you're doing. Also, explain some terminology(now I know what "shuffle" and "grid" mean).

i already learned this already!nice tutorial man ur da man!now i was wondering if u can teach me how to make a whole beat.i can make some beats da only problem is dat it loops all the sounds!how can i just pick n choose where my loops r going to bor certain sounds.i want to make an actual beat.i still dont know how to export my beats to da computer yet!its kinda confusing n i feel hopeless.i would like to eventualy start making all my beats using my fantom cuz the sound r nice n crisp

Thanks a lot for the video, it helps a lot. But I'm still having a problem with my Fantom X8. All of the tracks of the mixer are sounding together (for exemple the bass, drums, piano, strings are all sounding together and I play the keys). How can I fix that? Thank you so much.

Dear Ed ´:-) I am getting af Fantom x7 this Friday :-) I just getting in to music so I am very new at making music :-) Could you show how to sample lets say a bass drum and a snare and how to combine it with a snare from the one of the Fantoms patches ? Ed Diaz, after recording a few tracks and then play it back, what causes the tempo to change during playback on its on time? Is there a setting to stop that from happening?

How do you play along with your sequenced tracks? I'd like to play a track that I either muted or deleted while the rest (drums and bassline) play out...

Set all 16 parts to 16 different MIDI channels, that suppose to be the default Im sure.

How do you copy a drum loop, so you can cover a 3:30min song or more? I don't want to hit the bass drum for a whole 5mins and then snare , then hihat........ It's draining....

When you make a instructional video think from the audiences point of view if you do t explain what each button in the record options do which is why i came here to watch the video becomes pretty useless

Also, when you make another vid, pretend you're teaching a neanderthal who doesn't know what a buffer is, or what does sequencer mean, and ALL the vocabulary that, it seems, only computer geeks know what you're talking about. My prof teaches like we already know what he's talking about. He knows what he means, but no one else does.
