Welcome to my first ever unboxing video! Today I'm going to be featuring the Roland Juno DS88, a new keyboard/synthesizer which I recently purchased. It's not a new model and has been on the market for many years, but it's the first keyboard I've purchased and I'm really excited to try it out!

● Super portable with a cartridge for placing AA batteries to go busking

Hey I know I'm late, but I love this review honestly. Most people that I see have ridiculous jazz chops and I have no idea what they are playing, but with you, you're basically playing what I would play and it sounds better to me then a lot of those other reviews. When my car is paid off, which is a few months, I will order this.

Super mon ami 👍 J'adore ta vidéo avec cette présentation de ce piano portable 88 touches GH. super sympa ce clavier pour jouer comme sur un vrai piano. Roland est une très bonne référence. J'ai eu des claviers arrangeurs de cette marque avant... En tout cas les sons de piano sont géniaux et ta présentation bien faite. Au plaisir de te voir jouer la dessus... 😉

Wow! She looks like a stunning keyboard! It sounds amazing too. You are very natural when speaking in front of the camera and love your confidence when speaking too. If I were you, I think I would need to write a script first before making such a video. Hahaha.

Wow a really nice unboxing video here Andy, I really liked it (particularly because I’m looking into purchasing a digital keyboard too that I can use for practice when everyone’s sleeping, and also to take on our travels - so that battery compartment looked good to me). Enjoyed this talking video - you are very natural in front of camera and have a great sense of humour (here’s Middle C and his 87 mates 🤣). Those synth buttons look intimidating.. I’m excited to see how you are going to use them. Also, how’s the action on this thing? Could you here the keys clicking, did it feel plasticky or not too bad?

Hey Lena, nice to see you drop by :) yes, the ability to plug in headphones and play in the night is a huge plus of having a digital piano or keyboard! As for the key action, Roland are the market leaders as far as I know- for the price you pay for this model, it was really good in my opinion. Do let me know if you have any other questions!

Thanks for sharing this. Sounds will be improved if you care to use an audio interface so you get to capture all the sounds-both vocal and from the instrument.

Are there more types of pianos you can play? Besides the ones you demonstrated from the last part of the video? Also, would you recommend a specific headphone set for playing on this piano? Can you record a sound and then play that sound on a key, ‘customized keyboard’?

Oh yea for sure, there are so many piano settings! Like hundreds, too many I would say 😂 I think any mid-range headset off the market would be good. I don't really understand your final question though, happy to help if you explained a bit more! Merry Christmas!

Hey, thanks for dropping by! So, the price point was perfect for my budget and when I tried the keys action out, it felt comfortable- this is quite a big deal for me as I’m used to playing on upright pianos and I wouldn’t want to sacrifice too much of that feature. It’s also fairly light which is good for gigging and busking! If you’re interested in purchasing something similar, I’d suggest having a look at other models within this price range- the Korg Kross II was another I tried out, though I didn’t really like the keys action there.

Did you get any kind of additional warranties? Has there been any defects? I had mine for 16 days then one of the keys started squeaking which is annoying when I play piano. Also, I think it’s funny how you consider this as “light” , it’s heavy for me and I’m worried about dropping it. Anyways, good video.

Hi! Which external speaker do you reccomand for this piano?

Nords costs 3-4 times the price of this but has no usb audio ! This Juno and FA 06 07 08 all support usb audio so u can play vst patches from the computer via the main outs in the keyboard. No need for audio interface cos it’s got one built in. Is there any insight as to why overpriced Nords don’t have the feature ?

do you know how to make the pedal on the junods sustain notes? it doesnt sustain them when i plug it in, it just cuts them off or does the opposite of a sustain pedal

Hey man, i have the ds88 to and i like al the sounds, and you have a great video. I have only 1 problem. The headphones do work, but if im connecting my new speakers it doesn't work.. do you know how to solve it?

Hey Chris, nice of you to drop by! I think maybe the headphones and the speakers go in different ports? I haven't tried using the headphones yet, but my amp is connected to the L/Mono output.

@@ourandy thx for the reaction. I found out that there is an extra switch on the speakers. I have to set it to 4+dB then it works. I only cannot figure out why the piano sounds are crap on headphones and speakers!

Hi Brij, I have not tried the 61 key version so I can't really comment on this. If the make is Roland though, chances are it will be a good product!

Hi Ivy, I think you can play external wav files on this keyboard but I'm not sure about sequencing- that's getting into the real meat of the keyboard's features which I haven't really explored yet! Merry Christmas!
