Literally every single 90s song, movie, tv show used the JV 1080! I love the tinny sparkling sound of the JV 1080!
@d-culture9273 жыл бұрын
The 1080 still sounds amazingly good today for something from 1994. No other sound module from that era really comes close to the depth and realism of modern computer-based sample libraries and VSTs. Even though the technology is so simple by today's standards and there's no gigabytes of deep multi-sampling the thing just sounds so soulful and expressive.

It’s a great mashine for making those Well known 80’ish sounds, but people should serious think what they pay for this + serious overpriced pcm expansion cards when you can get the complete selection built in a 5080 or Integra. Both the 1080, 2080 and 5080 is not worth a whole lot of “retro” money when you can still buy a brand new Integra that has very near a “complete” 1980-2020 Roland Rompler sound collection. It’s both a curse for Roland and a Big plus for the user that Roland released the Integra that both gives the user an almost complete 40 years sound palette and shows Rolands complete lack of evolution during this period. But also shows that many of the JV sounds was already in the late 80’s a very high quality when its 90% of a 30 year later state of the art Roland sound module

@jakob59473 жыл бұрын
@@maccagrabme It does sound amazing, ofcourse, but I didn't connect to it while playing. Most noticeable to me was the difference in the electric pianos (MIDIed Grand usw.) and the Strings (Orch. Strings, Marc., usw.). These really came to life on JV880. Could be confirmation bias ofcourse, but i think its the older lower quality converters that make it sound more raw...like the DX7 vs DX7 mk2 :)
@jakob59473 жыл бұрын
@Xeraser ooh yes i've read about this on donsolaris page! But shouldn't the JV units too have this compression? There it says (if i remember correct) that only the JD 990 wouldn't compress...maybe thats the reason these units are getting so ridiculously overpriced on the used market (750€ and upwards in europe). But considering dynamics, nothing beats my MKS-20 ;) ...also i've never heard of these yamaha units you were talking about...whats special about them?
@jakob59473 жыл бұрын
@Xeraser haha allright, thanks for your explanation! I owned a Motif Classic Rack - until i recently aquired a TG77 and never used the Motif so i sold it.
