Nice. I just bought a used Roland RD600. It had 1 bad hammer. I repaired it. Then about 5 more went bad. So, I just repair each one as they fail. Piece of cake!!!!

I have a kr-375 model that I've been using for almost 10 years and it's still in perfect condition... except for my g3 key, the hammer was broken for a long time. The piano is fixed thanks to this video!

Thanks for the video! I have a KR-375 that has an intermittent electronic click sound. It happens both when I'm playing and when it's not being played. It sounds like the noise you hear when you turn the keyboard on and off. Sometimes it happens every 10 ten minutes, and sometimes not for hours at a time. Any idea what could be the problem?

Thanks for this. I just inherited a KR 570 and after playing it for two weeks, a white D key makes a klanking noise and is stiff to press. I will be taking it apart tonight to see what is wrong now that I know how.

This video was super helpful. I am NOT handy so I was nervous to attempt it and kept putting it off. My Roland KR-375 worked similarly to the video, with a few different placements of screws and power panel. But, I was still able to figure it out. The easiest part was actually fixing the broken hammer. I took post its as I went to make sure I kept screws and order to re-esemble the piano correctly because I knew I'd forget something along the way. Thanks for helping me fix a broken key and all I needed was superglue and some screwdrivers.

Bulldogs#1, thx very much for the video, it helped me greatly as I had exactly the same issue of a broken key hammer due to the plastic had cracked and broken, your video helped me fix it for no cost, just a bit of superglue - my wife is just thrilled, thx! I did find that my particular KR-570 had screws in some other locations not noted in your video, but eventually figured that out in other KZbins describing same fix. (Yours was the highest Liked one on the search list). I noticed from other Google searches that this plastic key hammer cracking issue apparently was a known issue at that time (25 years ago - KR-570 is a mid-90's era Roland product).... and sure enough, upon disassembly and looking at my other key hammers, most of them showed cracks as well. Your video helped me understand what the issue is and how to DIY fix it. I did weigh my super-glued key hammers after applying the superglue (same glue you used), and my digital scale couldn't detect a measurable difference, so I gather for us hobbyist pianists, the weighting balance of the super-glued key hammers doesn't seem to be affected - after re-assembly the keyboard seems to feel the same to me. Thx for posting the Roland part numbers for replacement key hammers should we want to not go the super-glue route, and thx again for posting the video.

Super glue is very brittle that won't last long. The best way (if it's a thermoplastic) would be to melt it and use metallic reinforcements inside.

The first hammer repair I made using this technique was about fifteen years ago.

Hi, Fran, noting your comment above, I let the superglue wick down in between the plastic and the metal weight, thus hopefully stronger bond as more surface area of superglue to bear the load. Hopefully it will prove to be strong enough as Bulldogs#1 experience showed.

Thank you! The very same b- flat hammer on my Roland HP-245 was broken and your video was extremely helpful. Although the way the keyboard cover comes apart is slightly different from the way the 375 comes apart, the hammers appear to be the same. (And they break the same way!) Thanks again.

Just want to say thanks. My daughters KR375 had the same issue (weak plastic on the hammer weight) and she cried thinking she'd broken it. used some glue to strengthen it up like you showed and good as new. Thanks again from the UK!

What brand of glue did you use? pretty please

Loctite gel super glue. Dries to set in seconds, to hold in 10 mins, completely dry in 24 hrs. Find it at Lowe's, Home Depot, maybe Walmart. Clean up with acetone (finger nail polish remover).

After replacing hammers, do you know what would cause the keyboard to not be very loud? The speakers are working fine, but when we play the keyboard with volume full blast, they are not very loud. Thanks

Margery, I'm not sure about this issue, however, If the amp is still in good condition then I would suspect maybe a loose wire or a dirty or bad volume slider control. I have a bad reverb slider control on my KR370 and have yet to try to repair. Unfortunately, these parts are no longer available, so you'll need to try clean the contacts of the slider control. If you're a DIYer then you can remove the cover of the piano again as in the video to gain access to the slider control and try cleaning with an electronic spray type contact cleaner.

I have a Roland KR-370 that has no keys working. All power supplies working but no keys function. Can you help or know of a source for parts or main board, schematic??

C Butler; unfortunately I cannot. I recently had the same issue with my KR-370. I change out power supply and still nothing. I'm guessing the main motherboard has issues, but they are no longer available except to purchase another KR-370 for parts (which I actually thought about doing....). The reverb slide had also gone bad and I had a the pedal set that was going to need rebuilding soon. I had owned this piano for 25+ years, played it almost everyday (laptop and amps connected, headphones, wires everywhere, etc), and it pained me to take it apart and discard. After playing several, I recently replaced it with a Roland HP704. The HP action is slightly heavier but as close to the KR as I could find. There are a couple of piano sounds that I have yet to find on the 704, however, the blue tooth capabilities, wireless headphones, etc., make up the difference. Any song or chord chart instantly available via KZbin and an IPad. Wish I had better news.

I had a similar problem with my KR-370. It worked fine and then nothing. After about 10 years I was thinking about the piano and why it wasn't working. I noticed the headphone input jack and I thought to myself, that hole looked to be the same diameter of a crayon, I wondered if one of my children pushed a crayon into that hole and broke it off. Sure enough, that's what happened. I dug it out, Now it works fine.
