For me the MC303 arpeggiator is the feature that has kept me from selling it! It's great, the best I've used, especially for external MIDI instruments. You can easily hold the arpeggiator with a latching footswitch too. 🎛 Thanks for putting together these deep-dive videos!

Hey Anthony, thanks for commenting! Yes, the arpeggiator is incredible and can make it well worth getting an MC-303 even if you have no use for all its other features. The pedal input is an ok alternative to the missing hold button. All the best and thanks for watching! 🍀👍

Dankeschön! 😊 Benutze Pattern Sets bislang auch nicht. Ein Arpeggio aufzunehmen ist manchmal tatsächlich nicht so ganz einfach, denn das erfordert ziemlich gutes Timing und manche dieser Sequenzen starten mit einem Auftakt, was man erstmal heraushören muss. Versucht man, Noten im Stepsequencer für den Arpeggiator zu programmieren, werden diese lediglich als nornale Noten abgespielt, also bleibt dafür nur die Echtzeiteingabe.

@@spiritplant9720 Ja, das habe ich hier ehrlich gesagt versäumt. Ich werde das in meinem Sequencer-Tutorial berücksichtigen. Leider gibt es da eigentlich nur eines - Tempo so einstellen, daß es die Eingabe in Echtzeit erleichtert und dann vor allem nicht nervös werden, sondern einfach ein bißchen "drauf los" machen, mit gesundem Selbstbewusstsein und auch ein wenig Gleichgültigkeit, denn wenn's schiefgeht macht man's halt einfach nochmal...

@@spiritplant9720 Naja, das mit dem Tempo ist gar nicht so unkompliziert, wie es sich erstmal anhört. Man muss dazu nämlich das neue Tempo erstmal mit einem Set Up Write Befehl speichern, sonst schaltet die MC-303 im Aufnahmemodus automatisch auf das ursprüngliche Tempo zurück. Also Tempo speichern, dann aufnehmen, dann das alte Tempo neu einstellen, wieder speichern. Ganz lieb von Dir, wirklich! Aber ich mache das hier nur zum Spaß, weil ich gerne rüber diese Dinge rede und mein Wissen gerne teile. Großes Dankeschön! 😊👍

You can select different functions in the system menu. Hold [SHIFT] and pad 16 (system), then use the select keys above the value dial to get to the PdL page and set it to HLd for hold...

Thanks for the video. Here's a PhD level arpeggiator question: if you use an external midi keyboard, such as an Arturia Keystep, and play the keyboard with soft velocity, the arp will still play all the notes at full velocity. Is there any way around this?

Good question indeed and I don't think so because parameters like accent rate and maybe also these different beat patterns contain velocity data for the notes that are used in these arpeggios. They are an integral part of these patterns and not meant to be changed.
