In this video, we quickly go over how to set up and recall scenes. I also show the difference between the two types of call scenes. Any questions, leave them in the comments below! Thanks for watching!

When you are in scene type 2, you don’t need to use SHIFT unless you store to bank 5,6,7 or 8.

This is true. I thought I had tried that already without success, but going back and trying again proves you're right. Thanks for the clarification!

No scene chaining yet. Looks hopeful for a future update though. The only way around it right now is through PC midi messages from an external source.

Hi Unit, I don't understand how to set same volume between pads and step sequencer, I mean when I play notes and drums with pads the volume is ok but when I play step sequencer the same notes are lower. Why? Thank you for helping.
@UnitE8082 жыл бұрын
Step sequencer is set to 80 velocity. Pads are velocity sensitive.

Hi, thanks for this video! Would you say scenes are mainly useful for live sets? I'm a beginner and I'm trying to figure out the best way to record full songs on the 707 that I can transfer to my computer. I have no real interest in using it for live performance. Any tips would be appreciated!
@UnitE8083 жыл бұрын
Scenes are useful in studio and in live situations. It allows the user to switch multiple clips at the same time. So, if you are recording into a DAW or other recorder, you can use the scenes to move through your song.
@UnitE8083 жыл бұрын
Side note. You cannot record a complete song on the 707. Everything stays as clips. You will need to record on an external destination.
@T0WER3 жыл бұрын
@@UnitE808 Thanks for responding! I will give it a test run in Logic and see how it goes!

@@UnitE808 Ah, I see. So that must be what people mean when they say they want a song mode? Hope that comes in an update.
@UnitE8083 жыл бұрын
@@T0WER no, song mode is automatic changing of specified scenes so the user doesn't have to do it manually. There is no way the 707 can record a song within itself. It's not built to do that. Updates can't change that.

Thanks for the video! I’ve selected type 2 for my “Call Scene” mode. I can save clip row 9 as scene 9. However, when I try to transition from scene 8 (clip row 8) to scene 9 while playing, it will not make the transition and stays on clip row 8, even though scene 9 is showing as saved and playing. What could I be missing here?
@UnitE8083 жыл бұрын
I know that this seems like a silly question, but is scene 9 different than 8? I mean,, are the clips changing?? I can try to recreate your issue if it is.
@pauldorough99383 жыл бұрын
@@UnitE808 Thanks for replying! So, I found out the issue. I had to select a clip (by pressing enter) on clip row 9, then I held bank 1 and chose scene 9. Before, I had clip row 9 highlighted, but no clip selected. The last clip I had selected was on clip row 8, so what I was doing was saving scene 8 AND 9 to clip row 8. Whew..that took hours to figure out!
@UnitE8083 жыл бұрын
@@pauldorough9938 glad you got it sorted! I'll remember to look out for that!

I’m having this same issue and was unable to resolve it. I’m just trying to make it move down the clip-grid in a linear fashion. Clips (in type 2) have been setup to only be present if they are playing. So pretty much just dropping down rows. 1-8 worked exactly as designed but moving from 8 to 9 seems to be an issue. I’m not sure what is causing this and I’m not certain I follow the OP’s suggestion to fix it. Any other suggestions or clearer language would be appreciated.

Hi good video. I have a request. When selecting a sound for a tone track, there is the "FILTER" heading, where NUM and ALPHA make sense, but I don't understand what "Bank A-F" are about. Could you possibly explain this for me?
@UnitE8083 жыл бұрын
All sounds are divided into banks. Check out the sound bank list on the Roland website. If you have that list, you could scroll to a specific tone quickly knowing what bank its in.
@alchemlstmobile65073 жыл бұрын
@@UnitE808 Ah thanks for explaining. Though I don't understand why they have done this, the banks seem less useful than the categories, most of these sound names are gibberish numbers and letters to me. They don't even give the full name of the sound on the pdf list, just the shortened gibberish names lol. Oh well thanks again!
@UnitE8083 жыл бұрын
@@alchemlstmobile6507 if you look at the list, it makes sense. All bass tones are part of a bank, all Saw leads are grouped, all Juno inspired sounds... In the category filter, Bass tones are spread across multiple categories (synth, acoustic, electric..), so you have to look through multiple spots to hear them all. With bank filtering, choose the bank with all the bass tones and scroll through them all in one list.

I need more info. Did you create a scene? Are you in Mute Pad mode?
@trikOsk3 жыл бұрын
@@UnitE808 I created scenes of course. I am not in Mute pad mode. Everything work fine, i can change the scenes, but if i change, the light on scene knobs not change and not blink (flashing) the next scene knob. I do anything, only the first (1) scene knob light in green.
@UnitE8083 жыл бұрын
@@trikOsk you could be in scene call mode 2. I am assuming when you say scene knob, you mean button? The original 4 buttons on the left used to be the only way to call up scenes, but now you can make those the banks of scenes and the step sequencer is the scene selection. But, you have to be in Mute pad mode.

I’m so new to all of this I’m just completely lost… With clip chaining being able to play through a song - what is the point or difference between that and changing scenes?
@UnitE808 Жыл бұрын
Clip chaining fan be used to extend phrases within the scenes. A scene can play for much longer and it changes multiple clips at once.

Is it only 8 scenes, not 16 scenes like on RM1x? I ask because I usually make 4-8 1 bar fill patterns and the first 8 are main sections / choruses / verses etc
@UnitE8082 ай бұрын
There are 128 scenes. Either 8 banks of 16 scenes per bank, or 16 banks and 8 scenes per bank. It all depends on the scene call type in your system settings.

Problem with 1.72? In the newer type 2 mode, I can't get anything to save as a new clip. Lets say In bank 1, (the green one now in type 2) there's clips I'm row 9. I don't get a new bright blue button showing a new scene. I can't even save one. It just it just brings me to the scene chain screen. I'm used to type 1.

@@UnitE808 I am confused can you not make a simple 5 min tune with intro verse bridge chorus verse bridge chorus? Say a verse is no more than 16 bars?? If not why that would be absurd? So basically it could play for 5 min in this order without touching the machine if you have to be playing guitar and singing.Thanks a bunch!!
@UnitE8083 жыл бұрын
@@neptunesgold1216 It will not play the scenes in any order automatically at this time. You have to manually change scenes. It is not a playback device, but a box that's meant to be played. There has been numerous requests for a song mode or for scene chaining, so I would expect to see it in an upcoming update. Currently, you can chain clips, but this is not as effective.
